SALISBURY, Md. - A 20-year-old was found by a Wal-Mart employee in the bathroom Sunday night after he sat down and was glued to the toilet seat.

The man, whose name was not released by police, was taken to the hospital late Sunday night, said Lt. Cheryl Rantz of the Salisbury Police Department.

"The man had gone into the bathroom and sat down," she said. "He was banging on the wall when the employee came in."

Rantz said the man was treated and released.

Bob Dougherty, 57, accused employees of ignoring his cries for help for about 15 minutes because they thought he was kidding.

“They left me there, going through all that stress,” Dougherty told The (Boulder) Daily Camera. “They just let me rot.”

Now, regarding this thread, I made the reference to the other thread specifically because I think most people know I would NOT fark the baby picture. The joke was that I was begging beano for negspek.

Now, based on your reactions I can only surmise that someone close to you is disabled, something I am sorry for if it's true. Your feelings on the matter are obviously pretty close to the surface. There's a fine line on the SO, and sometimes it gets crossed. I do my best not to cross it, and personally I would have found it revolting if someone HAD farked the baby. Again, the joke was that I was trying to think of the worst possible things to do to get beano to neg me.

But pal, there has been much, much worse on this forum (in fact there often is on a daily basis). I'm not making excuses for it, just saying that if outrageous humor makes you want to fight someone, maybe the South Oval isn't the place you should be hanging out.

Your perception is uncanny because yes I am very close to someone that's disabled and I'm probably way to sensitive about it. I didn't say anything about a fight but maybe it was so you can meet someone in person that has a disability or deformity that the SO finds so outrageously humorous and to help you understand how crossing lines IS hurtful. The only reason I apologized the other day was because someone mentioned to me how nice of a person you were in a PM but today and in this thread it pretty much proved my first impression was correct and yes this is very much a place I should be hanging out if only to remind you or anyone else that there are/is handicapped/deformed/physically challenged people that read this board everyday. That's all I'm going to say about it.

Uncanny? Nope, you're pretty much an open book on that subject in this thread. Since I posted that several people who know us both have made me aware of the reason for your sensitivity. They also made me aware that you've posted about it in the past. I might have known about it if I were more than a part time poster.

They indicated that you think I have been coming after you in some way, and let me just say that you have been pretty much totally off my radar screen, until today. I just have no real awareness of who you are, and certainly haven't tartgeted you. Ask around, that's not my style, and I haven't had too many problems with ANYONE on this board in 7 years of posting, which is saying alot.

They also said you've told them that I have a habit of making hurtful remarks about people with disabilities. Well, you must have me confused with another poster, or posters. Because of this incident I gave a cursory look at my last fifteen hundred posts, which was actually pretty easy since about half of them are from the music thread and can be thrown out. As I suspected, there is nothing (other than the two or three you misinterpreted this week) that I saw which falls into the category of making fun of the disabled/deformed. You're welcome to do the same.

Am I saying that I've never posted off-color posts, or even gotten close to out-of-bounds? Nope, but they pretty much are nearly always sexual double-entendre. Am I saying that I'm perfect on the issue you've mentioned? I doubt it, I've made thousands of posts in the SO, after all.

But any remarks making fun of the disabled would be pretty unusual for me. You see, you're not the only person in the world touched by physical challenges. A friend of mine, one of the most inspirational people I've ever known, was confined to a wheelchair by Cerebral Palsy. When he died, I felt so strongly about honoring him that I spent weeks building a website, free of charge, to publicize and benefit a foundation set up in his name. I can mention others, but my point is that I have met "someone in person that has a disability or deformity..."

Again, regarding the "bring out the Gimp" comment the other day, it was referencing a movie, Pulp Fiction, which I've been told you might not be familiar with. You might want to check it out, and figure out how it relates to the post I made. "The Gimp," by the way, was as far as I know NOT a disabled person. If you didn't really mean to apologize the other day, oh well. I just think you have a really poor read on who I am, and on my sense of humor.

I don't know how to take "I didn't say anything about a fight...", it seemed pretty obvious to me what you meant, but maybe I have a poor read on you...

So, to summarize:

1. Until today I had no beef with you.
2. I didn't come after you based on your situation.
3. I'm relatively sure I'm not one of the people who have you this hacked off, if you'll look into it.
4. I'm not looking to have a continuing beef with you.
5. I'd prefer if you stop calling me names, and stop making comments that can easliy be confused as threatening my physical well-being.
