I vote for Einstein for his sweet hair-do.

And he was a pretty smart feller from what I've been told.

Least pathetic #2 - Crazy King Ludwig of Bavaria who started Octoberfest to celebrate his marraige. He also started construction of the "Walt Disney" castle - the Neuswanstien castle (however you spell that)

We visited that place when I was younger.

The place is so big it isn't even funny.

It's big, but it's ghey. It's a long walk up the hill to it, too.

Yes, I remember that horrid walk....45 minutes up a fairly steep hill (busses would be a good idea), and then it took another hour or so to walk through the damn place.

Of course I had a huge mug of beer in each hand, that probably didn't help.

I was there in early August 1991. It took an all day train trip to get there from Baden Baden (another cool place). I had the foolish notion that I would just sleep outside in the park on the outskirts of town since it was in the 80's during the day. It is freezing at night! To make it worse I wore only shorts and a t-shirt.

I was a young buck in 1991 and I relished climbing that hill to the castle. I remember trying to walk up as quick as I could without stopping and my legs being pumped like I had been doing a squat workout.

Amazing view from the castle too. Waterfalls, a valley stretching into the distance.

Yeah, but he was a brilliant warrior. Hell, Einstein was on the wrong side too,
then he decided to see the light.

Rommel was implicated in the assassination attempt on Hitler. Makes him less pathetic in my book. However, there was some suspicion that he might not have had anything to do with it (in which case he is pathetic again).

Decided to see the light? What about him being raised as a jew?

I would put Beethoven at #1 and Einstein at #2

I gotta go mit Mozart...I know, he's Austrian, but Austrian=German.

If you insist on legal Germans only, I gotta go with my boy Georg Friedrich Handel.

JS Bach is very cool, but that baroque stuff is kinda heavy on the ears.

Methinks there were a whole bunch of unpathetic Germans.
I had forgotten about Luther & Handel & the whole slew of Deustsches Volk on my mother's side of the family. And since I mentioned him in another thread, how about the Okie-German Ben Kiehn of Bessie, who died defending the bank against robbers. Get off I-40 and see his monument in Bessie next time you're out that way.
