Anyone know what the new car sales tax is in Tejas? Tag prices?

I just replaced my Colorado tags on a year old car in Texas and it was $193. The tag itself is something like $60 bucks. If that helps at all.

That's what I'm afraid of.

In Mississippi, sales tax is 5% on a car and the tags are f'n ridiculous.
The tag for a $25K car will be $400

They have to make up somewhere for not having a state income tax. They get you on this and property taxes.

i think the sales tax is 6 %. it' only applies to the cash transaction, not the
total price.

it's not all that terrible. actually, the way i deal, i just name the "out the
door" price, & they have to back in the taxes & tags. i'm not saying
that my way is the best, or even good, just the way i do it.

my point is, sales tax & tags are not outrageous in tejas. jmho
