no, that's not really true. I don't know the old jerks any better than i know the new ones, for the most part.

For example, I had quite a feud with a certain poster a while back. He said some horrible horrible things. I swore that if I ever met him, I'd kick him square in the nuts. This fall I met him, he apologized, and it turns out he's a pretty nice guy--that difference wasn't because I'm now familiar with him, but because the jerk-ness was temporary and conditional. However, I would gladly take the former awful, offensive, anonymous jerk version of him over ANY of the new jerks.
