ignorance is the word you're looking for. most of them don't even know where oklahoma is much less the players or the impact they have on our team.

one guy on that board said there's no way dusty will beat out tommie, ian tank etc.. i wonder if they even know harris and dusty were a wrecking crew from hell at OU. them two together would make it so easy for urlacher to go nuts back there.

Bears fans are delusional. I lived in Chicago the past 7 months, and those fans actually thought the Bears had a chance to win the Super Bowl.

did anyone read the rest of the posts?

There were plenty of positive comments about Dusty.

If a board is judged by a few idiots, this one might as well close up shop too.

They stunk on offense last year. And they wanted a TE that can catch. And they probably need some OL help. They will love what JD Runnels does for their offense if he gets a chance. That guy is a blocking machine.

most of them, much like you, wouldn't know a good offense if it walked up to you, punched you in the liver, whipped your *** and then made you put on silk panties and walk the streets to supplement income. however, having said all that, you're not far from the truth. But, don't get all misty eyed and try to rub your man bush on your web tv in honor of my backhanded comments. you still don't know sheite about football. :texan:

What NFL fans say or don't say on a message board doesn't amount to d*** when it comes to football (sort of like college football fans). Lovie will play whoever suits what he is trying to accomplish on the field. If DD or JD fit that criterion, they will play.

There are countless examples of fans making jackasstic comments about one player or another (particularly draft picks) and those players saving the day (and going to multiple Pro Bowls) when all is said and done.

I wouldn't be surprised to see both of those Sooners in the starting rotation by the end of the season. I expect to see Mark Bradley get some PT this year, too. And yeah, I'll be rooting for Da Bears because of their Soonerific roster (Cowboys fan for life, and no, I don't give two s**ts what any of you think about the 'Boys. I've heard it all before. Remember--Opinions are like a**holes ;)).

The reaction is just about the same for Joseph as the Bucs first pick. It is about 50/50...some a$$hats are just immune to college football. The majority of hardcore NFL fans get all of their info from Mel Kiper.

Oh well, I was pretty stoked that the Bucs drafted Joseph...hopefully he will stay here with Nicholson and McGuder. We can start a nice little OU thing going on here in Tampa.

I also noticed quite more spec posts about the Sooners than neg. I liked this one too.

"Also, Cedric Benson really hasn't turned out to be a good pick. "

Receiving help in form of fullback

Receiving help in form of fullback

By John Mullin
Tribune staff reporter
Published May 1, 2006

The offense was expected to get help for the passing game in the form of a new tight end. Instead, the running game gets a boost from a lead blocker willing and able to take on linebackers and defensive ends. J.D. Runnels had just one carry in his final three seasons at Oklahoma, but he is a solid receiver out of the backfield, which is primarily how the Bears use their fullbacks.

The last fullback the Bears drafted was Jim Finn out of Penn in 1999. Finn is still in the league, just not with the Bears, and the hope always is that they can find a Roland Harper or Matt Suhey.

Quick facts: Height 5-11; Weight 238; 40 time 4.66.

Why a fullback? The Bears' offense features a tailback and a lead blocker. They expect their fullback to carry a heavy blocking load, and as good as Bryan Johnson and Jason McKie are, both were nicked up last year.

Why this fullback? Runnels was the lead blocker for star tailback Adrian Peterson at Oklahoma and the Bears want that kind of escort for Cedric Benson and, if he stays, Thomas Jones. Without adding a tight end in the draft, the Bears also could use additional receiving, and Runnels has superb hands.

Who's affected? Johnson and McKie are established on the depth chart, even with a bit of injury history, so Runnels has a difficult course to navigate. Barring injury to either of the veterans, the key for Runnels to make the roster will be what he can do on special teams.

Thinking out loud: "Oklahoma has been very good to us."--Lovie Smith, referring to recent draft picks Tommie Harris and Mark Bradley, plus Dusty Dvoracek and Runnels this year.

Footnotes: The last time the Bears drafted a fullback who made the team was Lakei Heimuli of BYU in 1987.

They will surely come to love Runnels. He's just a class act. Plus he's cool looking with that two tone skin thing he's got going on. He's totally solid. Super hard worker. Great attitude. The best blocker out of the backfield in Sooner history. Soft hands.

...and how can you forget the confused smile after the TT game when the drunk guy was yelling, "The refs tried to screw us, but we won anyway!" ?

I love that guy... in God's way.

I think that JD will become one of the most productive and valuable FB's in the NFL.

But that is just me.

It's nothing against Dusty but when you have a great defense and mediocre offense most fans don't expect to see you use your first 5 picks on defensive players.

The only pick I really disliked was Devin Hester in the late 2nd. There were some quality TEs still on the board. They did sign 2 rookie free agent TEs so I guess we'll have to see how those pan out.

I think the hardcore nfl fans are some of the biggest asshats alive. I worked the draft a couple of years and these people : are first of all, stupid, have no lives and show up to a friggin draft wearing their favorite jersey with their faces painted. They also have to be the whiniest bunch of no nothings on the face of the earth. Nearly every post on that board sounds like the shrill sound of a sewing circle that just found out that fabio is gay.

As a lifelong Bears fan and OU alumni I'll give my two cents:

The Bears stated from the beginning that they had "wants" not "needs" and were looking to upgrade the secondary with ALL 22 starters returning.

They also stated that they planned to draft down.

The Bears are banking on the fact that they now have two starting QB's, Bradley and Benson are healthy and this will greatly improve their offense. If you look at last year they had a good running offense despite teams knowing that was all they had.

The comments I saw about DD are in relation to his off-field problems which to me are a year ago, not now.

JD is simply an outstanding pick, he can block, catch, and play special teams.

The Bears look for certain players with character and speed.

It is sweet having Sooners on my team.

I love the NFL, but damn...the messages boards on most sites SUCC!!! I have been a member @ Buccaneers.com and I rarely post there. There is just so much bitching and crying...it is like a board full of Nick's.

Bear fans expected to win the Super Bowl....In Chicago any glimmer of hope renders us delusional.
Not too many liked it when the Bears took a running back out of a small school either. One turned out to be Joe Moore (at least, my fading memory has him at a small school) another turned out to be Payton.
Runnels is going to fit like Chris Zorich - really great character guy - hope JD plays a little bit better.
Not much of buzz about Dusty - but there never was about Singletary,McMichael,Dent or Hampton either.
We just have a natural cynicism - but give us a few wins and we start drinking that Bear Kool-aid..
