And what does GSH stand for?
George Stanley Halas, Papa Bear himself. Actually, the year that he died ('83 I think?) the Bears wore these orange patches with a blue H. Then they went to the GSH tribute the following year and have kept them on the jerseys since.
By far, that's the record for a team wearing tribute initials on their unis. The only other time I can remember a team wearing initials of someone for over a year was the San Diego Padres, who wore the RAK initials for a few seasons after the passing of owner Ray A. Kroc, who also founded McDonald's.
