My wife and I plan to go. On the 8th we fly to Okc from home here in California, go the the Washington game, drive to Tulsa, visit Ma and Pa. Then fly to Seattle, rent a car, drive around and look at the beauty, end up at the Oregon game on the 16th. Then drive and take our time back to LA.... I can't wait!

flying into portland and driving to eugene, I think were gonna stay in eugene tho, what sucks is me and my bro can't make flight plans until I make sure I don't have a test that fri, that would throw my flight plans out the window, so I have to wait for it to get expensive. but Autzen should be fun, get ready for the most green and yellow ever.

i was in autzen on saturday for their spring game, about 100 feet from where OU fans will be in sep. the atmosphere will be UNREAL!!!

i would HIGHLY suggest parking on campus and walking over to the stadium (about a 20 min. walk) - you walk over the willamette river, through some hiking trails, and then you come up on the stadium. it might be the prettiest pre-football game walk in the nation...

Yes there are, as there are at Husky Stadium, Seahawks, and at Reser too. It's due to the fact that gulls (aka skyrats) typically go wherever people drop stuff.

I've got a place to stay (brother lives in Portland), but it'd be hard to swing money for the plane/road trip.

On a side note, if you've never been to God's country, the Great NorthWest is some the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see. That alone makes me want to go up for the game.

:dolemite:

Yep, three friends and I are taking the long way to Mountain Home, Idaho to pick up my cousin (a Sooner transplanted by way of the Air Force) and his son and an RV to take the rest of the way to U-gene. I have never seen the western part of the country ('cept by plane), so I wanted to make this a road trip. Besides, my buds love the fact that they can escape their wives for a week.

Quack 10
6/15/2006, 10:21 AM
Their stadium is as weird as their uni's.

Ha! There's some truth to that! It's definitely asymmetrical with the new south side addition, but it can conceiveably be "balanced out" again with the as yet unplanned north side expansion.

Incidentally, in the upper right corner of that photo is the Moshofsky Center, the indoor practice facility and gameday tailgating central, and below it is the Casanova Center, basically the fieldhouse.

This photo shows the pre-expansion (and pre-Moshofsky Ctr.) stadium.

Len Casanova, head football coach from '51 to '67, when the Ducks went an incredible 82-73-8! It's a monument to mediocrity.

And yeah, the field more or less runs east west, though i don't think it was laid out with any significance.

TheHumanAlphabet
6/15/2006, 11:15 AM
Doubt in that area, geographical aspects make any difference. they don't get the blowing wind Oklahoma does and most of the time the area is in a fog or cloudy, so the sun doesn't matter either. ;)

Quack 10, can you answer the question on the visiotr's seating? Thanks.

Your field may run the east-west but that 16 year run would warrant campus statues at Oklahoma St.

For example, the last 16 years of aggyball has produced a record of 81-110-3(.425)

Remainder of Season Tickets On Sale Today
06/19/2006 - GoDucks.com

EUGENE – A limited number of reserved season tickets for the 2006 University of Oregon football season will go on sale to the general public Monday, beginning at 9 a.m.

The Ducks already have established a record for season ticket sales for the ninth year in a row, with the 42,200 season tickets sold thus far already surpassing last year’s total of 40,973.

All remaining season tickets available cost $252 each for the six-game package, with a separate Duck Athletic Fund donation required for some of the seats depending on their location. Required DAF donations range between $75 per ticket to $1,600.

Reserved season tickets that do not require a donation will be available for purchase Monday via the athletic department’s official website at www.goducks.com, in person at the Athletic Ticket Office located in the Casanova Center or via telephone by calling 541-346-4461 or 1-800-WEBFOOT.

Season tickets requiring a donation are available via phone or in person at the Casanova Center ticket office only.

Oregon’s six-game home schedule begins with Stanford on Sept 2 and includes Oklahoma (September 16), UCLA (October 14), Portland State (October 28), Washington (November 4), and Arizona (November 18).

Any remaining single-game tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, July 21.

Oregon is coming off last season’s 10-2 record and second place in the Pacific-10 Conference, with the Ducks riding a string of 42 consecutive sellouts.

Anytime in Oregon from, say, May thru October, IMO, is a great time to visit there. I would spend time on the Pacific coast, eat salmon all the time, visit some sights in the Cascade Mountain Range and then watch the Sooners play the Ducks.

Here are some food and drink suggestions from the Duck message board.

"hmmm for a nice place that serves a good steak or seafood, I would suggest Oregon Electric Station. I believe this is the spot they entertain recruits on their official visits. It isn't cheap, but it isn't terribly overpriced either:

for a good bar experience, I would suggest Rennie's. It is located right next to the UO campus (although school won't have started yet) and is an excellent place to grab a beer and watch a game, or sit outside on the patio. This still should be rather lively, even though it won't be nearly as lively as when the students are all in town.

for a good local beer I would suggest either Rogue (one of my favorites) or McMenamins. Both produce their own beers, and shouldn't be missed.

High Street Brewery (McMenamins)

As far as wines go, Oregon is famous for Pinot Noir. The climate in Oregon is similar to that in France, and thus we are able to rival any Pinot in the world. A couple I would give you as suggestions are either Hinman or King Estate.

Silvan Ridge/Hinman Vineyards

King Estate"

"Rennies is cheap and good, or if you haven't been to an Original Pancake House, I would very, very highly recommend you try it. The omelettes and dutch baby are really excellent and you can't go wrong with the banana pancakes (or any other of their many selections)."

"There are two places I would go as a student of which I still love and adore. These two places are staples of the U of O. First in terms of a bar, Rennie's is my favorite of all time (1214 Kincaid St, Eugene, OR 97401). It just may be nostalgia but I love this place. In terms of food, especially breakfast food and lunch food visit the Glenwood (1340 Alder St, Eugene, OR 97401). Great food and you will be awestruck at the prices (so affordable). My sister visited me when I was going to college back in 2002 and she raves about that place to this day 4 years later. Get the Tomato and Cheese soup if possible… mmmmm…"
