ladies and gentlemen,

I nominate..."The Tractors" for their spirited multi-platinum 1994 hit "Baby Likes to Rock It (like a boogie-woogie choo choo train)"

I';ve always liked the Sister song from The Nixons...also from 1994.

I never heard much from them after that.

the tractors have sold a lot of records. one hit or not.

and Steve Ripley has played as a session guitarist for many Nashville luminaries and blues legend Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, toured with Bob Dylan, and hand-made guitars for Allan Holdsworth.

I saw The Tractors getting a band photo in front of a huge old timey gas station in my hometown back in the day. I was going home from work, the station is right on HWY 99 in Hominy. I saw a group of fellas, nice light/camera set-up and a nic Mercedes waiting on them.
anywho, I reaized it was them when I saw the photo. heh.

No question. You are correct on the above, but like "The Knack", they are only remembered for one ginormous hit.

I don't think that Hanson had another song that came close to that one song...
I really don't want to say it.

Hanson?

Thanks pal, I had successfully blocked "the band we do not speak of" and "the song we do not speak of" until now.

My daughter was about 15 when those little guys were getting a lot of play and that crap was actually played in my home thru speakers I actually paid for.

The Five Americans were all from Hugo, and Durant. all but the drummer went to Southeastern. Drummer was a high school grad. I went to school with all these guys. One of the guitar players went on to play with The Ventures after the band broke up. Keyboard player John Rabon was a talent to behold. They were the top band out of the Dallas area circa 1965-67.

Hanson had a couple of tracks off the This Time Around album that, while they may not have charted high with Billboard, were #1's on TRL. And their latest album was #1 on Billboard's Independant Albums sales chart.
