She raised the garage door, and was en route to the mailbox.

Right after she walked outside, the door came slamming down.

Turns out the plastic part that holds the door to the chain assembly
broke.

So I'm about to install a Genie screwdrive deluxo to fix that crap.

heh, I said screw.

note to garage door manufacturers....plastic should not be used to hold up a garage door.

Amen to that!

I just finished replacing the POS "Stanley" (ironic or what) with a GENIE SCREWDRIVE, workin' like a champ.

The problem with installing it yourself, if it does crash down on any member of the clan-o-slickdawg, you can't sue. BTW, new openers are a pain in the arse to install.

Very true, but it was the second time I've changed one out, so it wasn't nearly as bad as the first. :D

slickdawg

I'm going to bed, so my spek can recharge and I can spread my spek seed

I didn't think mine was that big of a deal to install. It's a Sears screwdrive type.

I just did my 3rd opener installation Sunday. It gets easier every time.

That first time was terrible, though.

No, but I suspect that would be a near-death experience. Those things are
really wound up tight.

You obviously need a heavier door.

Or a slower wife.

I remember the garage door opener that my parents had at their house; it was called "boy". "Hey boy, get out and open that door!"

Clearly, however, the experience has made you a much better person.

Homey, those springs are dangerous. Dangerous like KILL YOU dangerous. Were you trying to fix them?

Not to worry. I quickly surmised I was in over my pointy little head and called the overhead door d00ds.

Overhead Garage Door gives a lifetime guarantee on their springs. You just have to pay for labor. I had forgotten about it when our last spring broke - but they remembered. Still not cheap, but better.
