I'm sure everyone has heard this already, I like the idea...Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be driving a black car Sunday to honor his dad:

I think it is a great ideal was hoping he would do it someday.

I was just thinking if he wins he may stay the man in black.

I think the car looks awesome, and what better place to run it...Dale Earnhardt was the king at Talladega and Daytona. We're supposed to get rain and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning. They're supposed to be gone by 1pm Sunday, but if the track is soaked it takes forever to get Talladega dry...

I'm mixed on this one. I'm not really a big nascar fan, but I always liked
Dale SR, he was exceptional in many ways.

It's kinda like anyone other that Ronnie Van Zant singing Freebird.

If anyone is going to do this I'd rather it be Junior or Kerrie (hope I spelled his name right). Same goes for anyone ever driving the 3 again (although I really don't think anyone would be able to fill those shoes, regardless of their last name). I figured Junior would've already done this by now, I thought he'd do it for the All Star race at Lowe's.

I think someone should have ponied up enough of a sponsorship to remove all the other jusnk from the car and leave it solid black with a number.

A good friend of mine will be on the front row in the infield at Talladega. The Bastage!

I wish junior all the best this weekend...I think he will do great in that car. I just wish that he would run that color scheme all the time.

Thanks to the leadership of jaux, we ponied up enough money to get ourselves a darn tootin' shotgun. How bout we work on getting ourselves a NASCAR sponsorship next? :texan:

I just realized I don't actually know what jusnk is.

Kyle Petty does something similar to this when he runs an All-black with minimal sponsorship decals at New Hampshire every year in honor of his son.

My wife said that she heard there will be some other "surprise" with Juniors car this weekend (possibly a #3?)

I like NASCAR, I follow it pretty regular. But it seems to be more about commercialism anymore. Even more than just the sponsers. But you would think he would have run the car at Daytona.

My wife said that she heard there will be some other "surprise" with Juniors car this weekend (possibly a #3?)I really doubt that...Richard Childress has been pretty adamant that the #3 will not roll onto a track again as long as he "owns" the number. I also doubt that Junior would WANT to drive the #3.

Junior went on record earlier this year saying that he would like to drive the 3 for RCR in the future.

That would really suck for Teresa.

I think that's more of a 5-10 years down the road wish than a near future thing. Or at least that's how I understood it.

I was watching Speed earlier this year and they were talking about rumors of a possible DEI and RCR merge. If this happened it could likely open up Junior's chances to drive the 3 car. What a combo that would be though, DEI+RCR...

RCR has not been so much since Dale's untimely death, but Harvick is have a monster season so far.

Leaving tomorrow for 'Dega! Sitting on the sixth row right on the start finish line. We've went for the past two years and I'm making this an every year trip. I haven't been to any other race tracks but I can't see how they can compare to 'Dega. Quite a rush seeing those cars coming at you at that speed and feeling the wind that they create when they all go by in a pack. I'm pumped! Just hope it doesn't rain!

We were at the 'Dega race two years ago when the caution came out right before Earnhardt passed Gordon for the lead and then the race ended under caution with Gordon taking the checkered flag. I've never seen so many ****ed off people. You should've seen everyone throwing trash onto the track and at Gordon's car. IT WAS GREAT! The fan base is definitely one-sided at 'Dega! More Earnhardt fans than anywhere I've ever seen!

I was working at that race. They inform us before the race that if we see anyone throwing objects on the track to get security and have them escorted out...All that stuff started flying and I pretty much said F*** it, I'm not going to try to stop any of them (not to mention I am an Earnhardt, Jr. fan myself and I was just as p***** as they were - and probably would've joined in if it wouldn't have cost me my paycheck for working, and keeping me from ever being able to work again).

I pointed out to my wife that going to a race at Talladega is like going to a football game, and Dale Jr. is the home team. You look across the stands and see a giant sea of red and always hear a loud roar from the crowd anytime his name is mentioned or he does anything to move through the field...

It's these garbage tossing, red neck havin, get-r-done TPT skanks that cause me to have great pleasure in watching JG roll that #24 to victory. :P
