Pic--how do you photograph your paintings? I keep getting reflections on the paint, either from the lights around or from the flash. your photos always look awesome.

use indirect sunlight outside. lay it down in the shade on the porch or something like that. that way you can still use your flash but it won't show on the piece.
I had a heck of a time yesterday morning with a new piece I had to turn in to a gallery yesterday evening. the no flash mode wouldn't focus properly and there wasn't enough light outside for the indirect shot.

Do either of you guys work with velvet? I've been thinking about commissioning a painting of Jesus, Elvis, and Bob Stoops...

haven't decided yet. probably how big do you want your painting to be?

yeah, I could get a tripod for my camera and use no flash, but that's still a pain. I'll try this and see how it works.

usually I don't mind too much since i'm not submitting my pictures anywhere like you (all fancy and talented and stuff ;) ) but i did a black and white painting a couple days ago and the light off the black paint is really distracting.

As painting experts, do any y'all know why, in the Switzer Center mural of Sooner Tradition, Coach Bennie Owen's belt buckle is upside down? I do and I got it straight from the arteest. I'm a smarty pants.
um.... I've never been in the Switzer Center so I don't know. :O

could it have something to do with his having only one arm?
