Dillard's is closing. All of them. This was the sad pants scene at the mall by my house last night.

Be on the lookout for some kicka$$ sales soon.

I just looked at the corporate web site. Nothing about any closing. They are opening new stores and have declared a dividend. I think this is bogus or a local closing. Where is BSG located?

Are Foleys and Dillards related in some way? I know Macys is buying Foleys so maybe Dillards is another subsidiary.

All I know is I drove up to the one in MWC and the doors were propped open and people were buying up the racks and shelving.

So I went to the one at Crossroads and chatted a bit with a sales girl and she said they had been bought-out and they were all closing.

That's all I know.

Well, that and it made me very, very sad.

My mall is a sad thing nowadays. But I heard last night that it's being totally re-done.

Which is good news because I don't want it turning into a flea market mall thingie.

I just received my daily Arkansas Business update and there was nothing in there about Dillard's closing. Their executives are taking a cut to their 2005 bonuses, however...

Dillard's Execs Take Bonus Cuts in 2005
Executives with Dillard's Inc. of Little Rock take a cut to their annual bonuses in 2005 but receive at least 300,000 shares of stock options and slight salary increases.

Dillards targeted certain stores and certain regions and closes those stores accordingly.

Dillards announced that for the 52 week period ending January 2006, its net sales were UP to $7.560 BILLION compared to $7.529 for the same period ending January 2005.

Driving to Penn Sqaure isn't a problem. I love that place, anyway. This one was just veeeery convenient. Just a mile from me...:(

I did find a couple of news stories about new Dillards stores that opened in the past week. None in Oklahoma of course, but seems to indicate a nationwide closing is unlikely.
