View Full Version : So I'm in the DPS examination station in Norman today...

BigRedJed

...getting my motorcycle endorsement. It's me and two or three other people, one of whom is Toby Keith. He wasn't there long, the examiner had to direct him to a tag agent for whatever he needed. He was pretty incognito, no ball cap, no cowboy hat. He was wearing a golf shirt, and a bit more clean cut looking than usual.

He was pretty inconspicuous, and I probably wouldn't have even noticed him, other than thinking "that guy looks like Toby Keith." However, the examiner called out his name, and it was his real last name. Plus, the examiner was practically wetting himself after Toby left.

But he was there long enough for me to see that he was wearing Crocs.

And yes, I know I shouldn't have been riding for the past year without an endorsement.
I had a motorcycle license when I was 14 or 15. It used to be marked as such on my driver's license, but somehow it disappeared. It didn't matter to me at the time, since a valid DL was all you needed to ride a motorcycle. APPARENTLY that changed several years ago. APPARENTLY, they "grandfathered-in" old riders, if you applied. You now need separate testing for a motorcycle license (which I took in 1983). I didn't know about any of that until the past couple years. Now, despite the fact that I actually took and passed a motorcycle license test in 1983 and the DPS should have record of this, I can't get the motorcycle license put back on without taking the test. Nice record keeping DPS. So, as far as I'm concerned, I have a motorcycle license. As far as the state's concerned, I apparently don't.
Maybe I should go to Phil's "ask a lawyer" website...

They are/were very popular in the medical profession. The green ones seem to be bought by people who wear green scrubs a lot in surgery. Don't ask why they need to color-coordinate, they just do.

And WTF is up with all the chefs lately? Wearing those "Chefwear" drawers, and crocs? Our executive chef wore these white/black pinstriped Chefwear drawers, a white chef blouse, one of those big chef's top hats, and white crocs to a meeting the other day. I took one of my employees over there for lunch (they're serving lunch on Fridays and Saturdays now), and he ordered the chicken fry. It was obscenely big. He's got a big appetite, and kept knawing away on that thing, but I swear everytime I looked at his plate there was more chicken fry on it than the last time I looked. He was miserably full when he finished, and I promise it looked like he had barely touched it. You could have fed 20 starving Chinese children with what was left over.

Also, their meatloaf is, as far as I can tell, identical to the one at Red Rock, which is one of my three or four favorite restaurant dishes in OKC. I also think it's a little cheaper (and much closer to my office and house), so, BONUS!

The answer is yes. I didn't put two and two together until I was inside and recognized him, but there was a big ole King Ranch 4X4 parked outside when I walked in. I use the term "parked" sorta loosely. TK might have been inside looking for driving lessons, is all I'm sayin'.
