Maybe his head got big and he lost control after receiving nationwide props for his coverage of the 1999 super tornado. His appearance on PBS's NOVA a couple of years ago probably did in any remaining humility. It's sort of like how Chris Berman made witty and cute comments on ESPN sports highlights before he became famous, but then turned into an annoying, raving, screaming wanna-be comedian/drama king after he became famous.

The Lawton weatherman was so pumped to call a tornado last year he overruled the weather service and declared a lowering. He sounded like a gambler yelling for a horse he had bet to pull through at the finish. In the end the "tornado" was just a big black cloud and the weather guy had to rip up his losing ticket.
