Leading into the race for vice president, incumbent Ryan Holt touts his near second-language abilities with parliamentary procedure and experience in presiding over legislative bodies as key to his campaign. His joining campaigns with Preston allows students to vote for an established team, yet brings along the fact that the major initiatives of last year's campaign would need another year under Holt or Preston's guidance to see results.

Holt's experience includes membership in the South Carolina Student Legislature, which Holt touts with his perfect attendance record in the Senate over which he presides. He plans to continue, hopefully with Preston as president, a slew of legislative goals designed to improve students' lives on campus and off. Initiatives include improving SG's graduate student relations and more expansive shuttles to parking lots and hot spots like the Vista and Five Points.

Shah says her approachability would make her a more effective candidate than the incumbent vice-president.

"Holt is really fantastic but can come across too seriously," she said.
