going to NYC with the wife and parents in about a month. We'll be up there for 6 days, and really have no plans. I've been before, but my wife has not. Any suggestions from those who are more traveled than my myself?

Get out as soon as possible.
Avoid crossing the Mason-Dixon line in the future.

Holly came from miami f.l.a.
Hitch-hiked her way across the u.s.a.

Plucked her eyebrows on the way
Shaved her leg and then he was a she
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
Said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side

Candy came from out on the island
In the backroom she was everybody’s darling

But she never lost her head
Even when she was given head
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
Said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls go

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo)

Little joe never once gave it away
Everybody had to pay and pay

A hustle here and a hustle there
New york city is the place where they said
Hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said hey joe, take a walk on the wild side

Sugar plum fairy came and hit the streets
Lookin’ for soul food and a place to eat

Went to the apollo
You should have seen him go go go
They said, hey sugar, take a walk on the wild side
I said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
All right, huh

Jackie is just speeding away
Thought she was james dean for a day

Then I guess she had to crash
Valium would have helped that dash
She said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
I said, hey honey, take a walk on the wild side
And the coloured girls say

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)
(doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo)

Just wait for :dean:'s advice, and do what he says. He's the authority on what to do, whether it be in Cairo, Egypt or Malta, Montana.

You should definitely take your wife to see something on Broadway. And if you want to see something good and have a decent seat, that means start shopping for tickets now (you're already a little late). If you're into Monty Python, Spamalot is great. If your wife is into ABBA music, Mama Mia is very good (if YOU are into ABBA music... well let's not go there). And of course Les Miserables or Phantom or Rent are always good choices. (although Rent might not be a great choice if you have stuffy conservative sensibilities). I'd recommend The Producers but I hear it's not as good since the original cast departed.

Check out Pollstar.com and see if there are any good concerts while you're there. And be sure to check the schedule at BB King's place, they get some great acts in there.

You could also check they Yankees schedule and catch a game.

You could go stand outside the studio window for Fox & Friends during the show, jump up and down and wave and look like a complete moron. Seems to be a pretty popular thing to do for some reason.

And there's the obligatory uber-touristy stuff (statue of liberty, empire state bldg, central park, ESPN zone, Hard Rock Cafe, blah blah blah) but when I go to the city (usually a couple times a year), I prefer to take at least a day, preferably two, and just walk around without a plan and see where I end up. I just love being there, I don't really need anything special to do.

Il Buco on Bank St. downtown is the best Italian I've had. Avoid restaurants in Little Italy like the plague. They serve slop to tourists.

I think New York is a great town. Sure it has its share of as*holes, but so does Tulsa. Most of the people up there are friendly from my experiences.

Whatever you do, when you're flying up there, don't pretend that you're going to raid the cockpit.

Man, they don't find that very funny anymore.
