I'm a runner again. Actually got one those cool Garmin watches.

Never did the the swim/bike thing.

Runners dominate triathlons. Guys who excel at swimming always get caught and the bikers usually get run down as well.

Frank Shorter is a great example.

I'm guessing that the cross training has made things a lot easier on your back. It also breaks up the doldrums of always doing the same thing.

Good for you on running again, conrats.

My experience has been that cyclists tend to do well in triathlon, it's the longest component and those that have grown up doing it have an advantage. I didn't even know Frank Shorter was a triathlete. Know who owns a bunch of Dallas area triathlon records? Lance Armstrong. From about 20 years ago. Dude is/was amazing.

I'm not cut out for endurance sport and never got into them to be competitive, I'm a participant only, but I just love the training...

Oh, and after all the years of swimming it's finally catching up with my shoulder. I'm thinking surgery next year.
