But we've had 4 (most by any school) butkus awards winners, Dozens of All- Americans, George Cumby, Brian Bosworth, Rocky Calmus, Teddy Lehman, Joe Bowden, Dante Jones, Daryl Hunt, Rod Shoate, Jim Grisham, Leon Cross, Jerry Tubbs, Kurt Burris, Leon Heath, Torrance Marshall, Rufus Alexander, Lance Mitchell ...just to name a few..

We've got to be number one. Atleast top three.

Rod Shoate was a 3 time All American. Carl McAdams was a 2 time AA. Boz 2 time Butkus winner, Calmus, Lehman both Butkus winners. Cumby was a 2 time all american. That's top 3 easily.

lol. yes it is.

if we have historically been known as producing all-americans at linebacker, we will keep getting good linebackers. as i recall, loftin was a life long LosuR fan. he was quoted right after he signed with us saying that he came to OU because they produce award winners at linebacker. that's why it matters. recruits. how many people nationwide look at that web page? a whole bunch and a whole bunch are recruits looking for a school that will give them as much publicity as possible.

Hmm, good point. I stand corrected. But thats still just as usefull as a national recruiting championship.

The only thing that might keep us from being number 1 in college is the Boz. Might be a little bias with him and the media, still, we traditionally have had nothing short of a ton of badasses at LB. Even in our down years with Gibbs and Blake and that other guy, OUr D is always top notch.

I might go out on a limb here and say we should be considered number 1 for overall D as well.....

Uh, this list is comprised of mostly dudes from 1970 on.

That goes for your Carl McAdams selection too, Nick.

I hate myself for clicking on that link.

CFN absolutely sucks.

How can the guy mention ASU without mentioning Todd Heap, or UCLA without including Mercedes Lewis?

How often did James Lofton play Tight End? Freddie Mitchell?

Congratulations for getting ranked by the most inept college football site on the Web.

Well, you got one thing right, CFN absolutely sucks. Their editor does anyway. If you look at it again you'll notice that after Maryland at #10 on the TE list is the last part of the WR list beginning at #8.
