Anyone? Anyone go from a tank to tankless or was it new construction?

I'm tired of running out of hot water.

I've heard good things. Plan on using it in my new house (when I finally take the plunge and build)

Please note the thread title. It is not "Tankless hot water thinker *******s" or "Tankless hot water hearer *******s".

The local home guru in Houston, Tom Tynan, recommends them with this caviat...

If you plan on having a whirlpool tub or some other type of large tub or is you have more than 2 or 3 people in your household, you will probably not be happy with tankless heater alone. In these cases, he recommends a tandem system with a gas hot water heater and a backup/auxilliary electric/gas tankless heater to provide that extra support.

"hearer" or "heater"?

Since you are being specific, I want to be sure before I post. :D

I looked into them a little for my dad...I'm thinking you shouldn't get one unless it's the high-end type capable of running two hot water faucets at once...

I've heard about them and am thinking about one. So is it OK for me to post in this thread ?

The kind with a tank.

So they're saying that you have an unlimited supply of hot water, as long as you don't have more than one person in the house or a bath tub. Where do I sign up?

The kind with a tank.

And that has to be filled by boiling water on a stove top and pouring it in.

Did they list a price? If so, I missed it.

My apologies. I thought the wording of my original post "Anyone go from a tank to tankless" made it clear that I ALREADY HAVE a tank hot water heater.
