Now I pretty much have next to no plumbing experience, but I was looking at the busted shower, and the problem is that the bolt is stripped that turns the water on and off. The valve assembly is easy to get to because it isn't buried, (on the basement showers they are, but I use the upstairs bathroom so I really don't care about that one as much) Would I be correct in thinking that the best thing to do is cut the water to the bathroom and then just replace both the faucet assemblies. On paper this seems simple, so I assume I missed something in the process. Any tips will be appreicated, TIA.

Shouldn't be that difficult. I replaced the shower controls except "hot" is now "cold" and vice versa. I never figured out how I did that.

Depends on the brand of faucet, hopefully you have a Delta.
