An English soccer play-by-play guy, on an English broadcast, just said it was time for somebody "to step up to the plate." "Step up to the plate" is a baseball saying; I wonder if the guy knew he was talkin' American.

Weird... just yesterday I heard a gay guy that knows less than nothing about sports say the same thing.

The Brits don't call it "soccer." They call it "football."

So it's doubly weird that he'd use a baseball term in a game that's not even football.
