It was Norman Highschool sung over and over and over to the tune of Boomer Sooner. Believe me, I loved Boomer Sooner when going to OU (and still do) but not when I was going to highschool and our freakin' colors were orange and black too :(

Ours was the Kansas State fight song, but the words to it were really dumb and most people didn't even know it had words (I didn't know until late in my Junior year)...

I always wondered why in the HELL they made orange and black the NHS colors. I mean, who made that decision?

And you're right, worst high school fight song evar.

Ours was the Nebraska fight song with Diller swapped for Nebraska. I think there only about 5 high school fight songs in a given state anyway. The state Univiersity's, Notre Dame, Michigan, Wisconsins, and maybe another one is about all the variety you'll see.

Not to my knowledge...:D

I wasn't what one could call an involved student in high school. I was a swimmer, but I kind of a liason between the jocks and heads.

Did they have the mod system when you were there, IB4OU2? You had a different schedule each day with blocks of time off between classes - supposedly to study. Worst. Idea. Ever. I'm lucky I graduated, in fact I still believe my counselor fabricated an extra credit that transferred from my previous school, just to get rid of me.

Meatchicken here. I remember playing Dobie High School (Pasadena, TX) when I was in high school, and if you know anything about them, they resemble a certain university to the south in like every aspect of their school regalia. Bentonville High School 2002 Arkansas 5A State Champions

Started at DT

We did not a fight song with words. The band played Eye of the Tiger when we ran out on the field. The band played one of the songs the Arkansas band would play.

At our pep rallies the seniors had a cool chant that most schools would not allow. The Rogers Mounties was our big rival. Any team we played would fit.

Are the Mounties gonna win...? HELLL NO! and then some other crap. I dont remember much. GOOD CHANT HUH?

I remember the chant we would say before we bust through the banner cause it was passed on the me from the seniors.

WE ARE HERE TO PLAY RUGBY! WE ARE THE BEST IN THIS COUNTRY. THE OTHER TEAM THEY THINK THEY'RE HOT! WE'RE HERE TO SHOW THEM THAT THEY'RE NOT! WE ARE THE BEST! F*** THE REST! TIGERS! TIGERS! TIGERS HAAAAAAAAAAAA!

I thought I was the coolest. My friend Vern and I wanted to teach the whole D the Haka (All Blacks Rugby chant) They were lazy and wouldnt do it. Springdale does it now I think.

I don't know where we got ours from really, but it was the same as Jenks', so when we played each other both bands played it. Was weird being on the field and hearing your opponent's band playing your fight song.

Tell me about it! My alma mater (San Antonio Douglas MacArthur) uses "On Wisconsin" as the tune. There are so many schools in South Texas that use the same that when we advanced to the football 5A (largest classification)quarterfinals a few years ago, EVERY school we played used the same tune.
The saving grace is that the Big Blue Brahma Band is a "Dynastic" championship band and made the others sound like poopie by comparison.
A couple of the schools here use Ohio State's ditty, one uses Michigan's, and there's even one using Minnesota's "Rouser"! A casual passer-by might walk past a stadium on Friday or Saturday and think he's close to a Big Ten (+1) game.
We actually have two fight songs, the other being "Mac Fight', written by agreat guy who was an assistant at Mac after he and I were in college band together. Both tunes are used a lot.
On the bright side, exclusivity-wise, our Alma Mater was to "Aura Lee", a Union song circa Civil War AKA "Army Blue" and Elvis's "Love Me Tender".
It's a great arrangement and we're the only ones using it. Brings a tear to the eye, even after all these years.

Here are some samples of performances by the Mac musicians. Note that the Honors Band is the top group of three bands that Mac sends to contest. They ALL take top honors each year as does the Symphony.
12 All-staters this year,BTW.
http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomframe.jsp?query=Douglas+MacArthur+HS+Brahma+Ba nd&page=1&offset=0&result_url=redir%3Fsrc%3Dwebsearch%26requestId%3D8 f90691a009af021%26clickedItemRank%3D1%26userQuery% 3DDouglas%2BMacArthur%2BHS%2BBrahma%2BBand%26click edItemURN%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.neisd.net%252Fm ac%252F%26invocationType%3D-%26fromPage%3DNSCPTop%26amp%3BampTest%3D1&remove_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.neisd.net%2Fmac%2F

Scroll down a bit and find the band and orchestra a/v in the "New and Updated pages" below.

Wish the A/V dudes had done better. The sounds were absolutely riveting in person. The audio files might be better by a bit than the vids, BTW.
The Symphony's "Bacchanale" will blow you away. Of course, the BAND always slays 'em!

It was an honor and a privilege to attend and "serve" @ MHS. Though it's been many years since graduation, I'm still a Brahma to the core.

Most of the schools in eastern Oklahoma have their fight song set to the tune of the "Washington and Lee Swing March." Among them are Sallisaw, Muldrow, Vian and Stilwell.

Poteau's fight song is the "Notre Dame Victory March" and Spiro's fight song is "Anchors Aweigh (Navy)."

Midwest City's fight song is an original. There is a line in the song that says "you fighting sons of bombers". Needless to say after trying to teach the student body the words and "you fighting sons of b****es" came out, that was the last time it was taught.

The funniest thing I ever saw was when I was in Pride and we had to march at those high school games in Texas the night before OU/tx, one of the high school's fight song was the ut fight song and the band director was an OU grad. He coulnd't stand it but couldn't change the song so in front of the fight song, he put to OU go-go in front of it. Clever.
