I had a flat tire saturday night. I left my car at the bar and had a friend take me to get it yesterday morning..took it to Hibdon's this morning to get it fixed and apparently, it was unfixable. So the guy says..."yeah..that tire is $250 to replace." Holy hell. for one stinking tire? yep. for a different brand, the cheapest replacement was $185. this is not a $43,000 SUV. this is a little Mazda 3 that cost under $20K.

Luckily, when i bought the car, I chose the total care plan, and I have replacement coverage for tires. it costs me an extra $3/month. worth it? YES!

Yukon tires are probably cheaper

my tires aren't even that much, what size are they?

I had a flat Saturday too...first time I had to replace a tire on a large vehicle.

I'd like to take this moment to congratulate the fine engineers at Nissan who designed the spare's wench, jack, and assorted tools.

I'd also like to direct Angry Eyes at the bastids who wrote the manual...

Unless you drive a Ferrari or have bling-bling rims, no way should they be that much.

at mazda's too. they didn't have tire-changing instructions. Yes, I know how to change a tire, but this is the first time on this new car and i wasn't sure where the jack was supposed to go..my protege had a specific spot just for it.

i wasn't asking :D (a guess, since i've never even heard of 17" steel wheels on a car)

the OE tires (if i guessed right) are pretty pricy, even online

What? You saw the hehe, which is a smiley?!?! :D

Those Mazda tires were so expensive because they were Michelins, probably. They're high.

You could have gotten them for about $75 less...somewhere...

i have no idea.
i just thought the car was cute and it was in my pricerange.

goodyears, actually. the guy said he could put a different brand on there for about $185, but i want them to match :D

Boarder

Oh, Mazda 3, not 6. If you paid $250 for that size of tire you probably should have fainted.

soonerbrat
4/14/2006, 12:09 PM
yep..mazda 3. i'm getting them free since i signed up for the extra warranty thingy. thank goodness.

There's this one place where you could have bought 4 new matching tires for $21 more.

No, not alignments. Maybe someday.

If we do, I'll be sure to announce it with a new, cool thread. Maybe in Sooner Swap.

I got the 100K warranty on my protege too, but i never used it. it had 123K miles on it when it was totaled and i had never had a mechanical problem with it..so i almost didn't buy that warranty again..but it is only $3/month or something. definitely worth it.
