View Full Version : DirecTV Question
I'm adding a tv to my house and already have a receiver box that was in my living room before I got tivo. Can I splice the line to the 3rd receiver or do I have to have DirecTV do it and activate the receiver? I'm stoopid about this kind of stuff like most other things. TIA.

You have to run a line to the new reciever from the dish or from a multi switch. You can't just cut and "y" off another line like with cable. It doesn't work.
A multi switch is basically a "Y" adapter thing that will work.
Thanks. Am I better off just calling them and doing it right?

BINGO then you have to call andactivate it. 5$ please.

The $5 monthly is worth it to sit outside in a hammock and watch golf, NASCAR or football. So I do have to activiate the receiver. I think y'all have just about got me there.

Do you have a dual LNB or multi-switch on your dish? If so you just need to run another Coax line to the receiver and then you can activate it online if you want . . .

if you run it yourself, make sure to use RG-6 cables and crimp on connectors.

I'm starting to think the $49.00 they wanted to install doesn't sound that bad.
