Anybody ever get one? It seems like one can find a little better rate on the internet, but I have heard that the problem is that there is a bigger likelihood that a rep is not there at closing with the money.

Any experiences to share?

I used lendingtree without a hitch. They are affiliated with Costco. Therefore, upon closing I got $200 to spend on a Costco gift card.

One caveat, they won't lend to anyone who is moving next door to a guy who has a sawz-all. Make sure you due your due diligence.

We just got a home equity loan through Lending Tree. I ended up getting about 5 quotes and went with the best one, closed the loan in less than 10 days.

Howzit, if you need some money just let me know. Don't be too proud to ask. It's what friends are for.

They have a tendency to aggravate buyer's and seller's because they sometimes overpromise and underdeliver. I have had closings delayed days and weeks with innerweb martgage companies. But I have also had closings delayed with local mortgage brokers. The best service and results have traditionally been with local lenders such as Bank of Oklahoma Mortgage.

One of the biggest hold ups with lending tree style lenders is that they have to wire money in for closing. They won't begin that process until all the documents are signed and processed by both the buyer and seller. Seller has already signed over the property but doesn't recieve his money for hours or days. Can be very frustrating.

One strategy that I have seen work is to take your internet qotes to a local lender and ask them to match it. You get the good rate and the local service if they agree.

Actually, we have already been in touch with a local guy that basically said he can match internet rates.

That's fine. Your back door has always been the special one for me.

I've heard they're pretty unreliable at closing time.
