PB&J rawks. I always use different flavored jelly though, not grape.

Ramen goes well in those skillet sensations if you don't put the flavoring in it. I think it's the potroast one I use...toss in some ramen and it's a solid meal for $6.

I just discovered how cheap and fat-free blackeyed peas are. Good eats there.

My mom has a cole slaw recipe that she puts raw ramen in. Pretty tasty. I only eat ramen now if I am sick, not sure why.

Those KFC snackers for 99 cents make a good meal if you are out and can only scrounge together 107 pennies.

Back in the day, I lived an entire year on eggs, rice, bread and oats. And LOOK AT ME NOW!! The incredible, eatable egg is very cheap, high in protein and quite tasty. Bread and oats are great for "feeling full."

You might also check out your local grocer's frozen pizza stash. The cheap pizza isn't good, but it sure is cheap.

Also, God gave us the Tortilla for a reason. Some times, it is just fine without a filling, stuffing or topping.

(And yes, I capitalized "Tortilla" on purpose.)

Chicken on a stick - shot chicken with pellet gun. Dress it and stick it on a small stick, firmly implanted in the ground. Put a large tin can over it and cover that with hay. Light the hay on fire and wait about two hours for the chicken to cook.

Of course, that wouldn't work too well with the burn ban. But, if you're really hungry it doesn't matter.

Weiners ala mode:

Make up some mashed potatoes (instant or the real thing), split open the hot dog, put a couple spoonfulls of mashed pataters on the hot dog, sprinkle a little cheese on top and bake for 10 minutes. Delicious. $1.50 for a package of hot dogs, 5# of potatoes for $1.50 and $2 for a bag of cheese and you can feed a family of four (with leftovers) for about $3 and have much of the cheese and some potatoes left for other fine dishes.

Ramen?

Back in the day, they hadn't even invented that crap. And who the hell could afford a stove for cooking it up?

Like I said, y'all don't know poor. Or hungry. All the hamburger helper, SOS, Ramen, eggs, etc. require cookage. Poor bastages don't have stoves, and back when I was one, they hadn't even invented microwaves yet.

If we can handle the Ryan's story and all the others, then we can handle this.

Two men are lost in the Sahara, wandering aimlessly from dune to dune in hopes of finding some oasis. Both men are starving, and are beginning to feel weak from hunger and the heat.

With an amazing stroke of luck, they happen upon a dead vulture, lying alone in the desert, freshly croaked from some unknown cause. "Amazing!" says the first, "We can eat now!" The second looks queasy and defers, saying "I'll catch the next one, thanks. This one looks a bit off." The first looks at the second as if he's insane, then chows down.

Still hungry, the two make another lucky find a few hours later in the form of a deceased camel. The camel, unlike the bird, has been there awhile, and smells a bit after baking in the sun. The first man, however, is undeterred in his quest for food.

"I can eat all I want now! You sure you don't want any, man?" The second again waves the first on, saying he's allergic to camel. The first replies "Whatever!" and feasts on the beast until he can hold no more.

Not too long after leaving the dead animal behind, the first man pauses in mid-step, complaining that his stomach is killing him. Stopping completely, the man doubles over in pain, finally upchucking all his food onto the hot sand at his feet. The second man, ecstatic, exclaims:

"Finally! A warm meal!"
