There were two F/A-18s flying overhead at about 1500 feet with their gear down in what I assume to be a holding pattern. They were basically flying in squares but then they moved and were circling more towards the NAS-JRB. Those mofos are loud. Heck, they might have been closer to 500 feet off of the ground. My windows shook pretty damned hard when they were overhead.

We're they waiting to do the flyover at the Rangers game? The fly over was at about 12:55

Wait for a Navy commercial, it'll have something...

Isn't it the Navy that uses Godsmack for the background music on their commercials?

Right now the squadron is practicing carrier take offs and landings in prep for deployment. Good article a couple days back in the startelegram in regards to development over here in west ft. worth and the base. Been a big part of the community and I hope it stays. Kinda glad 52's and KC-135s aren't around though.

I thought F-18s were Air Force and F-14s were Navy.

Both are Navy. The Marines also fly the F-18, but not the F-14. Actually, I think the F-14 has been retired.

Um, have there been any black crown vics or suburbans with tinted windows camped out in front of your house?

I don't think it's a good idear to shoot down a jet. Just a hunch! ;)

BASTAGES!!! Does Tom Cruise know about this?

And.. when is the F-22 Raptor supposed to be mass produced and used?

The Tomcat was always my fave.

The flight time to maintainance time ratio ultimately did in the F-14.

The F-14 series of operational NAVY fighters flew their last missions
early this year. The workhorse for Naval Aviation for almost three decades,
has been phased out in favor of tha F/A 18 Hornet. Both planes
are used by the Navy and Marine Corps. I'm still heavily biased for the
F-14D Super Tomcat.

The Air Force has its new toy, the F/A 22 Raptor, which is the shiznit
for fighters.

The F-35 JSF is pretty kickass, as well.

But when they returned fire with a JDAM, well, you would be permanently baned.

The guys buzzing my tower yesterday had nothing on their weapons pylons. I just have one stinger left and I'm saving it for something special, like a hot air balloon or something.

That thing would have to be flying pretty low to get anyone with that spear on the nose.

I wouldn't call an order of 183 jets a mass production, but production jets are in the field now.

Don't you want to save that one for go-cart girl?

I'm pretty sure shooting down a military aircraft is an act of war. So, unless you're prepared to declare war on the Navy, I would stick to just shooting down airliners.
