That said, who knows if he can continue that hot play. We will see.

I can't argue with you about that. It would not suprise me a bit to see him win back to back weeks.

I don't buy into the "Phil's peaking too soon" garbage. I'd love to go in to a tournament with that kind of confidence.

has anybody won the thing after winning the previous week? I think Phil goes to the crapper. amazing driving and GIR stats from last week though.

what about Goose? he's been iffy there.

Mr. Man Boobs.

I know it doesn't happen that the guy that wins the week before ever wins the Masters, but that streak has to end sometime.....and considering George Mason made history, i'd say this is a good year.

Go Phil.

Last person to win after winning the 'warmup' tournament the week before was back in 1988, and it's only been done 6 times in history.

DiMarco better hope his knee has improved by about 70% for him to even be in the field on cut day.

That being said..........I'll go with Retief as the new green jacket member on Sunday.

I shared a plane with him a few years back. My buddy/co-worker and I knew he was a golfer, but we couldn't remember his name to save our lives. Drove us nuts.

I also think Garcia is going to make a run during a major sometime in the next couple of years. He has the tools, he just never seems to keep it together mentally. Seems like he played pretty well a few weeks ago.

sergio has made some impressive swing changes and drives the ball long and accurate. but he'd have to putt out of his mind (not the strength of his game) to win at Augusta and even at the "Tiger-proofed" Augusta....driving the ball accurately is not nearly the premium it is at the other American majors.

Wasn't Garcia a pretty good putter 5, 6, 7 years ago? Seems like he was the only guy that could give Tiger any competition, than he just disappeared. I thought he putted pretty well back then, no?

Sergio played well in one PGA and semi-challenged Eldrick. he was a marketing tool for the Tour when no one was beating Nike Woods. you were sold a bill of goods. he shot 93 at Carnoustie in 99 at "the Open".

he's talented, but i think there are a lot of young players i'd pick to win a major before him, these days: Sean O'Hair, Luke Donald, Adam Scott....
