:D

Tiger is still only 5 back and Goosen is 4 back.
Tiger may be 3 back after that shot at 13.

if Phil makes a birdie before anyone else does.....it's gonna a serious uphill climb to beat him.

if Phil makes a birdie before anyone else does.....it's gonna a serious uphill climb to beat him.

If Phil doesn't screw up, between 13 and 15 he should be able to go a few strokes lower. Maybe even make the birdie putt at 12.

King Crimson

Vijay's getting that shoulder slumping "i can't putt a lick" body posture. i don't dislike Vijay the way everyone else seems to. watch him play in person is pretty impressive.

Newbomb Turk
4/9/2006, 04:58 PM
Goosen damn near knocked his 3rd in the hole at 15.

My favorite quote about him was a few years back when he won the US Open. Johnny Miller said "Retief is so calm, he makes Ernie Els look nervous".

WOW! what a birdie. only saves ground against Phil....but still.

watching it i thought he decelerated badly.....knowing all i know about putting at Augusta National.

:D

Newbomb Turk
4/9/2006, 05:15 PM
Freddie has an ugly putting stroke.

If you want to know about putting at Augusta, just go out and putt on your garage floor. That's based on my vast knowledge. :D

I don't mind Phil. As long as he doesn't hit a shot in the water here on 15 or on 16, he's pretty much locked it up.

Newbomb Turk
4/9/2006, 05:31 PM
Crap - Tiger almost aces 16!

King Crimson
4/9/2006, 05:37 PM
Tiger: that was a great putt. historically being above the hole on 16 is a massive screw job.

Newbomb Turk
4/9/2006, 05:37 PM
That shot Tiger hit at #16 last year was one of the best I have ever seen. I could stand there with a bucket of golf balls and not get one within 5 feet of the hole.

If Phil doesn't make birdie at 15, and Tiger can somehow birdie 17 & 18, it could provide just enough of a pucker factor for Phil.

i posted earlier about that shot. one a lifetime kind of thing......but, sometimes you see those down lines and all you have to do is put the ball in the right place and gravity is a sure thing.

my neighbor just cut the breaker on all the apartments (6 of them) in the building for something that doesn't work in his place....and came by to apologize afterwards. knucklehead.

King Crimson
4/9/2006, 05:53 PM
that a great shot at 16 by Phil. i don't like him, but i give him his props. 3 majors. 2 two times at the Masters. that's pretty tough.

C'mon now. In Majors since 2005:

Tiger has finished 1, 2, 1, T4, T3
Phil has finsished 10, T33, T60, 1, 1.

Same amount of wins, but Tiger is consistently at the top.

True. But I watched the entire 4th round thinking Phil was playing pretty average himself. Solid, but not spectacular. He could have finished a few strokes lower himself.

What's amazing to me about Tiger is how he stays near the top almost all the time. In Majors since he turned pro, he hasn't finished lower than T39, with his next highest at T29. The only cut he's ever missed was at the Masters in 96 when he was an amateur.

Yep, every single guy in the top 10 gave multiple shots away on the greens, Any one of those guys gets a few of those to drop, and they walk off with the jacket. REally would have liked to see Freddy win. I was pulling for him. (and Tiger ;))

I agree. Nobody really played THAT well the entire tournament, Phil was just lucky enough to not have the blowup holes that alot of guys did. If my math is right, Phil played 31 holes on Sunday and only bogied 3 of them. Heck, he only had 11 all week, with no doubles.

I was pulling for Phil, Hamilton, and Fred, in that order.

He also missed eagle putts at 13 and 15. That's why he had the reaction to the birdie putt that fell at #18 - kind of like "now a putt falls".

I was disappointed in the final round - all of the big names were there, but nothing really happened.
