UCLA center Ryan Hollins bruised his right thigh just above the knee in a collision with teammate Alfred Aboya during practice Friday. Hollins didn't participate in the Bruins' practice later in the afternoon. "It hurts pretty bad and it swelled up," Hollins said. "We hope Ryan is going to be OK," coach Ben Howland said.

Sounds like full contact.

TD is just comparing it to White's injury before the 2002 Indiana game when Sampson had the Sooners practicing full tilt.

Because we all know that you shouldn't practice hard. Practicing hard is the succ. Much better to just lay back and take it easy. Champions always take it easy in practice.

Hard luck having a player get hurt in practice, though.

WHAT td is saying is that all out practices before big games drains the team .I can't recall the number of times that kamikaze practices have injured several of our players.WHILE i applaud SAMPSON'S DESIRE TO CREATE INTENSITY i think by the time you reach the conference and NCAA TOURNEY jf you ain't playing hard and competing you never will no matter how much practice you get. I'm not sayong don't go hard in practice,I'm saying in late season kamikaze practices can be detrimintal to your team.

They should put all the players in body casts the week of the Final Four. The very idea of someone standing and jumping scares me out of my wits!

It's like music. You practice really hard about a week before the game. You start to taper back the intensity leading up to the big game (recital, whatever) so that the day before you just do a light practice, and the day of you just warm up. That way you aren't starting with already-fatigued muscles.

Well, I guess it didn't matter after all. UCLA beat down LoSUr 59-45. Wonder if they'll live dangerously by practicing hard before they have to play Florida tonight?

Doubt it.
