...it looks like both parties are interested.

Do we need another quarterback?

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 09:30 AM
I'm know I'm a fighter, a competitor and a winner. I know the people around me are, and our basketball team is. Now, our goal is to win the Big 12 Championship and challenge for the National.

Oh, and we're going to score 115 a game. We may give up 120, but we'll score 115.

College of Southern Maryland? You can't be serious, surely?

NOOOO BIG NAME.................BIG NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jimminy Crimson

He has some great recruiting ties and has no baggage that I know of.

He was seen at the Ardmore Interurban yesterday.

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 12:19 PM
I doubt OU could afford someone of his ilk.

King Crimson
3/31/2006, 12:24 PM
pretty controversial hire, IMHO.

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 12:27 PM
I really think this could work. Sounds like the dude has a lot of connections in the Southern Oklahoma area.

press conference at Ponders, 4:00 CST.

Yep, we could be dominating Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma City in no time. ;)

press conference at Ponders, 4:00 CST.

I'm sure they could find somewhere better than Ponders. Casa Roma perhaps?

Jimminy Crimson
3/31/2006, 03:02 PM
I don't get it.

OU is interested in hiring Brandon Martin to replace Kelvin Sampson as men's basketball head coach.

birddog
3/31/2006, 03:04 PM
Well, I did get THAT. Sometime's those damn winkies indicate an inside joke. Also, I don't get it if we hire him.

Jimminy Crimson

Also, I don't get it if we hire him.

We need a coach. He's won at every level he's been at! Great southern Oklahoma recruiting ties as well as ties to the east coast and San Diego areas.

Southern Oklahoma recruiting ties? Anyone got a link on this guy's background and our/his interest in the job?

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 03:16 PM
I guarantee you Martin's teams would score a bunch of points.

He's a proponent of the fast-break, pressure style that so many Sooners fans are fond of.

birddog
3/31/2006, 03:24 PM
where are you all getting your info. on this guy? Link please.

NormanPride
3/31/2006, 03:25 PM
Is he a fan of the "win as many games as possible, any way you can" style? 'Cause that's what I care about. :D

Anyone got stats on this guy?

TwinCitiesSooner
3/31/2006, 03:25 PM
Most people are a fan of fast-break ball, but you have to bring defense with it. Otherwise it's meaningless.

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 03:26 PM
Do you not watch much BBall? This guy's teams are always fun to watch and they're definitely high-flying.

Plus, he's got lots of street cred because he signed a contract with the Jordan company a couple of years ago. Now all their shoes and unis are supplied through Jordan.

Kids will flock to Norman to play for him.

Ardmore_Sooner

I guarantee that the students WILL fill the seats for any and every game if Martin is hired.

birddog

alright, good one fellas. carry on.

I don't think this is the way to go. It isn't always a good thing to get someone close to home.

His basketball style is 180* from that of HEART, HUSTLE, HARDWOOD™

I'm glad his name is in the mix. A much better choice than lackeys like Turgeon, Altman, Hinson, etc...

Sooner04
3/31/2006, 03:39 PM
Martin's philosophy IS the polar opposite of heart, hustle and hardwood.

Martin's is more of "When in doubt...... score."

OK, we are probably a few hours early for the April Fools Day thread but

Brandon Martin
Coach College of Southern Maryland

05-06 9-18
04-05 4-24

Pro: COSM scored 108 points in 108-94 victory of Anne Arundel (seriously) this year

Con: The 102-67 home loss to Cecil was not so good.

Jimminy Crimson
3/31/2006, 03:42 PM
He more than doubled the number of wins from a year ago!

And Cecil was *good* this year. They won the conference title.

Records can be deceiving. In short, this is his "dream job."

Sooner24
3/31/2006, 03:49 PM
I heard he was going after Ted Younts as an assistant.

Sooner24
3/31/2006, 03:52 PM
He might even get Jermaine Gresham to play basketball as well as football.

You mean that you are fond of. There is an equal amount of us who appreciate defense and the purpose it serves. It's only because we haven't been the ones moaning and crying, every oppertunity possible, the last 12 years that you make this assumption.

Da fence, you mean that thing that goes around your yard? What the hell does that have to do with basketball?;)

Hopefully Coach Martin won't get distracted by the hawtness of our women's b-ball team.

I bet they could just let Sunny Hardeman call him up and sweet talk him into taking the job for free.
