Whatever you do, don't rebuild your fence on your neighbor's property.

Don't plant tomatoes in that dirt, either.

And keep a gun aimed at the pile in case some cats think it looks inviting.

that huge tarp will make sure you don't end up with 15,000 pounds of mud in your driveway and the street.

Boy PG, you get potty mouthed when you have a bunch of dirt to move.

BeetDigger
3/30/2006, 04:27 PM
And BTW, that looks more like 6 tons of dirt.

And you need to tell your neighbor that the reason their house isn't selling is due to all of that rye grass in their yard. The garbage bin out front isn't helping either.

Hamhock
3/30/2006, 04:29 PM
Did your neighbor put the house up for sale AFTER you dropped the dirt?

1stTimeCaller
3/30/2006, 04:32 PM
anybody know what dirt weighs per cubic foot or yard?

If that was a 10 yard dumptruck the dirt weighs 4.44 pounds per cubic foot. It was probably 8 or 9 yards of dirt, just guessing.

Did you order 6 tons or by the yard?

oh god damn it. i started posting a reply and it disappeared.

i don't even know where to start. I didn't think we needed this much dirt. I am not responsible. GHP ordered it. IT probably is a lot more than 6 tons. this is not going to be fun.

biggest problem at the moment is that we don't HAVE a wheel barrow. My parents are bringing me one, since they're coming down for my birthday this weekend anyway.

in the time it took me to go eat lunch, the ****ty brats from across the street had already climbed around on the dirt piles. I asked them not to do that anymore. If they do it again I'm going to get a paintball gun and have no mercy.

We ordered 6 yards of dirt. My parents used 4 1/2 tons in their itty-bitty front yard, we've got a gi-normous backyard with a ton of low spots in it. It'll get used.

The big problem was that the freaking huge truck didn't have room to turn enough to get into our backyard, so our options were dump the dirt in the driveway or run over the fence with the truck. PG wanted to run over the fence. The parents said the fence would cost WAY more than that dirt.

Of course, the whole fence needs to be re-done due to shoddy workmanship anyway, but that's for another month. I can make it my own personal Fat Jihad to rebuild the fence.

Thread predition for May:

PG - THERE'S MORE LUMBER IN MY YARD THAN IN A FOREST

Followed by a post about how GHP estimated the amount of material necessary to build a new fence.

bobcat That's not a bad idea except that we're trying to do this cheap. Plus, I don't know if it would fit around the side of the house, and then we'd have to drive the bobcat a LONG way to get from the front of the house to the back.

Oh heck, all of this complaining about moving 6 yards of dirt. When I put my yard in in Washington state, land of glacier-till, I brought in 30 yards. They had to dump it out front since I had a drainfield and I didn't want them driving over it for fear of breaking it. I moved 30 yards with a wheelbarrow. Don't worry, you can do it. It should take about four hours.

Have the little boys use a couple shovels and their Radio Flyers to haul the dirt where you need it in exchange for some Braums ice cream certificates.
