I like the way he determines the time of day by the shadow on the wall.

Confound that crazy old Asian war.

You know, I don't think he really loved her.

That's just the vibe I get.

Who was the bigger beyotch, Ruby or Lucille?

12
3/29/2006, 03:55 PM
You know, he was going to plant ol' Ruby. I think he was pleading for her to turn around so he could get a better shot.

Lucille was a total beyotch.

I would have shot her before Ruby.

I'd comment on Lady, but that would be very ghey.

Lucille was definitely the bigger yainch. Who's gonna feed those kids while he's out harvesting the crops.

Ruby..I mean...the wants and the needs of a woman her age...do YOU realized? who could blame her.

I still don't understand why Lucille's one night stand felt all guilty about...he didn't do nuthin'

How many gallons of "Old Lady Blue" has Kenny gone through for his beard alone?

Ironic, I say.

Delilah (Tom Jones) was worse than Lucille or Ruby. She was a beyonce what drove a d00d to commit murder.

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind (she cheated)
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah

I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting (premeditated)
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more (intentionally kilt her )
My, my, my delilah
Why, why, why delilah

So before they come to break down the door (he know's he's about to be busted)
Forgive me delilah I just couldn’t take any more
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah

Might have been charged with voluntary manslaughter if he'd have busted right in and kilt her when he seen 'em doing the deed, but he hid-out and studied on it. Thus, he gets the needle. Lesson: if you're gonna off-em, do it ASAP.

Ray Wylie Hubbard knew a cheatin' woman back in his day as well.

Last night I went down to the railroad tracks
To watch that train roll by
99 cars screaming into the dark
I heard the lonesome whistle cry
With her name on my arm and the rain coming down
I kissed her like it was the first time
I took her down to the railroad tracks, and her red,red lips touched mine

(Chorus:)
She said,"I wanna rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do"

The woman's got a walk to make a man cry, throw back his head and howl
Ruby red lips, liquid hips, more than the law will allow
If I told her once, I told her twice
I must of told her a thousand times
I got a red hot mind and a cold black heart
I am the jealous kind
The woman just laughed and said, "Sweet Daddy
You know you are the only one
You're my smooth lover boy, my heartache and joy
Come on let's have some fun."

(Chorus)

It was early last night, I went downtown
To a place called Johnny's Last Stand
Through the blues and the smoke
I saw her on the dance floor
She's with another man
The dead man's name was Louie Dupree
I pushed the little button on my knife
I walked up and said, "Hello boys and girls
Have you enjoyed your life?"

(Chorus:)
It's time to rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do

Last night I went down to the railroad tracks
To watch that train roll by
99 cars screaming into the dark
I heard the lonesome whistle cry
With her name on my arm and the rain coming down
I kissed her for the very last time
I took her down to the railroad track and her dead, red lips touched mine

(Chorus:)
I wanna rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do
Rock and roll
Hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do

Oh a Kenny Rogers thread! Makes me so happy in my pants.

I'll tell ya who I couldn't stand, those Gatlin boys. They took advantage of Becky. At least Tommy finally took care of business.

Kenny Rogers' "Ruby"
There are country songs with guitar breakdowns, none of which compare to the one at the end of Ruby.

He should have thought about that before he fathered four hundred children.

She likes adventure with security
And more than one man can provide
She planned adventure feeling sure that he
Would not be home 'till after five
He turned on the lights and turned them off again
And said the one thing he could say

All these years
Where have I been
Well I've been down the rode to work and home again
And I'm still here
Untill I'm gone
Don't you rub it in too hard that I've been wrong
All these years

She said, "You're not the man you used to be"
He said, "Neither is this guy"
She said, "There's some things you refuse to see
But I guess sometimes so do I"
She made no excuse why she was lying there
She said the one thing she could say

the dude is still laying there, at what point in this song does he get up and run like hell?

Just wanted her to see when he shot her the BIRD!

For God's Sake turn around

And all she was doin was tryin to pay the rent.

When we were on our honeymoon in Jamaica some 12 years ago, there was a guy at the resort singing all of Kenny's greatest hits. He was playing an acoustic guitar while wearing Wranglers, boots and a big black cowboy hat.

Dude had some serious dreads.

I wish I had a CD... it was classic. "Don't take your love t'town, mon."

Ruby AND Lucille deserved the Johnny Cash treatment:

Early one mornin' while makin' the rounds
I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down
I went right home and I went to bed I stuck that lovin' 44 beneath my head

Got up next mornin' and I grabbed that gun took a shot of cocaine and away I run
Made a good run but I run too slow they overtook me down in Juarez Mexico

Late in the hot joints takin' the pills in walked the sheriff from Jericho Hill
He said Willy Lee your name is not Jack Brown
You're the dirty hack that shot your woman down
Said yes oh yes my name is Willy Lee if you've got the warrant just aread it to me
Shot her down because she made me slow
I thought I was her daddy but she had five more

When I was arrested I was dressed in black
They put me on a train and they took me back
Had no friend for to go my bail they slapped my dried up carcass in that country jail

Early next mornin' bout a half past nine I spied the sheriff coming down the line
Talked and he coughed as he cleared his throat
He said come on you dirty heck into that district court
Into the courtroom my trial began where I was handled by twelve honest men
Just before the jury started out I saw the little judge commence to look about

In about five minutes in walked the man holding the verdict in his right hand
The verdict read in the first degree I hollered Lordy Lordy have a mercy on me

The judge he smiled as he picked up his pin 99 years in the Folsom pen
99 years underneath that ground I can't forget the day I shot that bad bitch down
Come on you've gotta listen unto me lay off that whiskey and let that cocaine be.

Sorry for earlier jack.
Old guy trivia...Kenny Rogers and the First Edition had a short lived syndicated TV show 71-72 (maybe 73). Saw it while stationed at Fort Riley.

Waiting for SBSB photos... :)It's at my parents' house. It will have to wait til tomorrow. Sorry

Some news show was talking about how he was disgruntled about his botched plastic surgery job.

With a mug like that why would he even go public till that bastages fixed it.

Also I wanted to praise that wonderful quote of the Cocaine blues. That's a song I never get tired of, though my wife may. :)

Yeah post surgery he doesn't look too good. I saw him in concert last summer and from the distance he looked weird. I promise I'll post my pic with him later this week. Currently, I'm about 500 or so miles from it.

Even Burt Reynolds would not have turned down the chance to motorboat Dolly in the early 80's.

kenny is one of the greatestI liked Kenny in his "Ruby" days, back in the late '60's, as the lead singer for the "First Edition", but not so much since then. They had about 4 or 5 hits, including "Ruby". After that, he went pure country.
He's pretty over-the-top with the redneck issue.
