That's what you get for using something crappy.

What have they done, specifically?

i guess i should clarify, its more the new "management studio" that sucks. the database is still decent. whoever had the ingenious idea to take out dts, needs to be dragged around the farm and thrown in a creek.

and for the DNN crowd, who writes stored procedures that won't work in a binary sorted database? hello? optimization?

i don't know what the heck they are thinking with this release. you only have the ability to run sql or import/export data. if you choose import/export, they don't give you an option to not drop the table and just append the data. here is the kicker, they have a flag that says "optimize for many tables" which translates to when we drop and then create the tables again, we are going to create them without identities, PKs or indexes. gee thanks.

you can import the packages into VS 2005 but they don't give you the ability to see the code. my irritation at seeing objects is about to hit the boiling point.

Makes me glad we are sticking with 2000.

I thought the "sql server 2005" bit covered that.

don't get me started on the concept of "partial class"

I actually had hopes that the title of this thread was misleading. Unfortunately, ....

SSIS is *supposed* to better. Though I haven't looked into it yet.

I assume bcp and BULK INSERT are still available?

Given the incredibly poor job that the IDE did of updating code, I like the idea that they put auto-gen'ed code in a seperate place. However, having peices of your class scattered all over tarnation is, uh, concerning.
