"are you serious? maybe this is a bold statement, but we could be going through the greatest years any athletic department has ever had."

Actually,

Natl Champ in BaseBall
Natl Champ in Football
Natl Champ in women track
Elite Eight in Basketball

Is a pretty Damn good year for any Div 1 team. Ya gotta give em that.

Last time we were even that close would have to be in the mid eighties and that was only football and basketball. the Baseball champ didn't come until a few years later.

Hopefully the trend will turn this year.

Yeah, you cant just be blinded by your crimson glasses. They are having a damned good year athletically.

I can't lie, I'd be saying the same stuff they are if i was in thier situation.

I wouldn't have minded if he said "year", but the writer said "years". They are having a great year. Years remains to be seen.

Questions for ya... how many football games do you make time per saturday to watch? How passionate are you about it?
How many wrestling matches can one stomach in an hour? Even orange aggy gets bored with that stuff.
How excited are people, really about basketball?

Football is a glorified tradition of the south. Football owns all other sports in strategy, excitement, ticket sales, fans, and fun of the sport in general... Nuff said.

Who cares?

If I were offered the chance to choose between:

1) Being near the top, or at the top, in twenty+ sports, including Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, Soccer, Track, Swimming, Golf, uh... Tiddlywinks, er, Women's Basketball, Softball, Women's Wrestling (hey, that'd be kinda cool, actually), Women's Soccer, Women's Track, Women's Swimming, Women's Golf (wait, how many is that... damn, only fifteen), Lacross, Chick's Lacrosse, Competitive Burping, Women's Competitive Burping, and Pocket Pool.

-or-

2) Having a kick-arse football team, and sucking in every other sport.

I'd choose number two, every single time.

Yeah, Tejas has a great football team this year -- it's just hard to find any of them other sports interesting. If it makes Tejas fans proud, then, heck, more power to them.

Whatever it takes to get through the offseason, y'know? Me, I visit message boards, and watch violent Japanimation clown porn. We all gotta find a way to survive until next season, yo.

Oklahoma still the only school to play in a basketball NCG and a football NCG in the same academic year.

Texas won the baseball NC in the 04-05 season. Football in the 05-06 year.

Even had they advanced to win in basketball, it wouldnt have been a true sweep. Another faux 3-peat averted (somehow there's a weird Oklahoma-Texas-LSU connection in both of them).
