...a 10 second backcourt rule ??? Stanford seemed to take 15 seconds or more several times today to pass half court...

No time rule other than a shot clock.

I thought they were taking FOREVER to get past the half court line...

I learned this the hard way. 2001 Big 12 Tournament. I was up there for the men's tourney expecting to go home Saturday. Well, the guys somehow beat KU and Mizzou and were playing on Sunday. So, we were in town Saturday night and the girls were playing in the tourney finals vs. Iowa St. Went to the game. Iowa St was taking forever to cross half court and I start yelling "10 seconds! 10 seconds!" Some nice person turned around and said, "Um, there is no ten second rule in women's basketball." It was a fine moment in my life let me tell you.

Definitely would assist in a stall offense if you could spread the entire court.....not sure I understand that rule unless it is a statement against women's ability to handle the ball....

they did away with the 10 second backcourt rule because of the 30 second shot clock, i think.

And on a kicked ball, if there's 15 seconds or fewer on the shot clock, it only gets reset to 15.

makes no sense, eliminates the utility of an effective full court press...I am sure there is a good reason for it but I just can't see it...

Not sure if anyone remembers but there used to be some states where in women's high school games you had to leave one girl in the backcourt at all times. There's definitely some weird rules out there.

Another one that is still in effect is that all the women have to line up an extra block away during free throw attempts. It makes it alot tougher to get an offensive rebound off a FT.

Anyone know why the men have a 35 second shot clock and the women 30?

And how about the way they line up on freethrows. I had never seen the first block left empty.

Either Oklahoma or Iowa was the last state to go five on five girls ball.

Not having that rule makes no sense to me.
