I'm taking a lesson on Saturday in hopes of dealing with my hook. Then I'll take that to the course Sat afternoon and probably play as bad as I ever have. :O

The Players Championship is going on.....DL III and Furyk are at the top and Tiger is 7 back after shooting even par yesterday. From the sound of things, I'm thinking Earl Woods probably isn't going to live a lot longer....that's got to be tough for Tiger; by all accounts, they're very close.

He played with Darren Clarke yesterday who's wife also has cancer. I've heard this mentioned on telecasts before but I didn't know she was dying from it.....but this ESPN article says that she is. That's got to be tough.

If I'm doing a lot right, it'd be the first time. :D

Actually, my whole life I fought a slice. When I decided to start playing a lot more a couple of years ago and after I got some new clubs, I developed this hook. Early on, it began late in the round, now it's pretty constant. I took a lesson last spring and the guy started jacking around with my grip and I couldn't hit the ball for a month. My right hand was.......open? He wanted me to turn it more counter-clockwise. I've made this change a little, but not where he wanted me to.....that was too uncomfortable and I don't practice enough to take any major changes at this point.

Tiger is -4 through 7 today.

I looked into playing Sawgrass when I'm there this summer. Just to say I've played it and to play the 17th. It was $tree-fiddy a round so I'll have to stick with playing it on XBox.

You could play that hole at Tour 18 in Dallas, probably $75 a round or so.

You come down, I'll let you buy my round.

My hook tendencies come from gripping too hard with the left. It's tough to work that one out. You have to focus more on the release as you follow through and finishing down the target line.

man, in high school and college I had a serious fade. and I played it well.
somewhere after art school and whacking off my finger I developed a draw. sometimes the hook is out of control but I've tempered it with a grip change.

PGA sets start date for Tulsa ticket dash
By MATT DOYLE World Sports Writer
3/23/2006

Officials expect demand will be high for the 2007 event's 35,000 daily tickets.
How things have changed since the last time Southern Hills Country Club hosted the PGA Championship.

Al Bush, general chairman for the 89th PGA Championship, anticipates the pool of general-public tickets for the 2007 PGA Championship at Southern Hills will sell out early. He points to one distinct difference between this PGA at Southern Hills as opposed to the 1994 event won by Nick Price.

Tiger Woods.

Since Woods turned professional in August 1996, tickets for events he has played in have been at a premium. Woods has won 10 major championships, including the PGA Championship twice (1999 and 2000).

"There is a lot more talk and general excitement about the PGA Championship's return to Tulsa this time around -- and it can be attributed to Tiger Woods," Bush said. "I strongly encourage everyone to reserve their tickets as early as possible."

In the weeks leading up to the 1994 PGA in Tulsa, fans could purchase tickets to the tournament without any problem. That will not be the case when the championship returns next year to the south Tulsa course.

Officials with the 89th PGA Championship announced Wednesday

that tickets will go on sale to the general public June 5. Ticket information is available through the tournament's Web site www.pga2007.com.

"The Championship's public on-sale date is a very big day for The PGA. Historically, 75 percent of all tickets are sold within the first few weeks," said tournament director Ryan Jordan.

Jordan said approximately 35,000 tickets will be available for each of the three practice rounds and four championship rounds. Ticket prices will be $30 for the practice rounds and $415 for a Wanamaker ticket, which is good for all the practice and championship rounds.

The 89th PGA Championship will be Aug. 6-12, 2007, at Southern Hills.

This year's PGA Championship is Aug. 14-20 at Medinah Country Club outside of Chicago.

So, What's it like to fight a hook?

Never been there, so I have no idea. Only time I fight a hook is when I try to hit a nice little draw around an object of some kind, then it instantly becomes a major-left turn hook. There's nothing in between for me. It's all fade, all the time.....very boring.

Good luck squeek.

just a tip for you, when I want to fade it just a little more than normal, I tighten the last three fingers of my left hand, that hinders my release a little and keeps the face from rotating....it might help your hook.

grip-stance-alignment.

a lot of times if you start (unconsciously) rotating your grip it effects your swing plane...so you end up with the club wrapped around your body on the backswing with a flat swing plane---so to get out of this knot you either block right or get "handsy", roll your wrists, and start hitting hooks to compensate.
