whoever invented the microwave oven should be hailed as a hero for the do-it-yourself scientist.
Here are some fun things you can do with one (but do it with an old one, because there is the chance that you can actually do damage to your microwave)

The well known CD-in-a-Microwave, and its cousin, the Christmas-Tree-Ornament-in-a-Microwave,
The upright-burning-toothpick-in-a-microwave
The ever popular Light-Bulb-in-a-Microwave (probably one of the most fun to see)
Soap-in-a-Microwave
all contain pictures too, but you'll wanna try them yourself.
