It is time for me to get back to what I was a few years ago. Right now I'm tipping the scales at 211. I want to be 195. 190 would be optimal, but it's tough to get there.
I plan to do weight training 4 times a week and 200 minutes of cardio a week. I've already gotten 100 minutes in, so I may shoot for 240 this week.Diet will consist of NO fried crap. No burgers or such when I eat out. Some sort of green veg daily. Little to no bread intake. Take it easy on the trans fats- as in, none!

Who's in?:texan:

I will NOT be shooting free throws, btw

cutting back on bread and the evil white potato made a big difference for
me. I did a modified south beach diet, and went from 237 to 219. I was
210 before Katrina, and need to get back there. :D

The wrestling thread worked.

Just did 90 crunches
60 leg lifts and 60 oblique ab twists
on to the bike!

I quit beer on 2/28 - dropped eight pounds since then. About eight more and I should be good to go.

I'm on the fat jihad as well. The week of christmas, I weighed 204. I stopped drinking soft drinks at work, switching to water, and stopped eating desserts. As of last week, I was down to 192.

I still want to lose another 12 pounds down to 180. So, this week, I started exercising again, lifting weights and doing kickboxing via the TurboJam DVDs. I don't know if it's working, but I'm sore as hell.

I will join in on this jihad myself, I am sitting around 280. A 20 lbs. drop will do me wonders.

Man, you people just aren't gonna let me live that down, are you? ;)

(BTW, there actually WAS a reason for the free throws and threes. A "goal", if you will. It just ended up not matteraitin'.)

I'm at about 200 right now. I wouldn't mind staying at 200 if a bit more of it was muscle instead of lard. Heck, I'm near 6'3" - I don't think 200 is unreasonable.

Thats skinny

I was 6'1" and 175 in high school and I was very skinny.

Anyways I am at 205 right now, I would like to get down to around 190 so.

Whats a quick way to lose 15 pounds? In about 2 months time?

I was that my senior year of HS and I was able to start at TE on a 2A football team. Hell, if I could get back to 175, I would consider myself at my ideal weight.

Well, it might just be my build then, but I was considered too small to play football unless I played Wide Reciever. Our team never threw the ball either. :(

I would get one pass a game, which was suppose to be a 10 yd toss pass, but the qb could never get it off quick enough, so it became a 10yd hook with me getting drilled in the back by a safety after I caught it.

Now that week 2 has begun, I totalled 240 mins on the bike downstairs. I gotta get a dvr for the basement. I'm out of Sooner football games and movies!

down to 209.5 after a weekend that saw a little too much food and booze at the Cult concert.
Btw- if any travel agent wants to book you at the Hudson Hotel in NYC, don't do it unless you're a hipster only looking to score at the bar downstairs. Our room was smaller than the one we had on a cruise ship. The lobby is kewl tho.

I've tried to limit the red meat intake as well as wine/beer. One glass every other night.

I also took the dog on a 3 mile walk this AM. Still plan to work out and ride the bike this eve.

Well I am going to try running in the mornings and lifting weights after work.

FYI- Doing crunches does nothing to remove fat around your belly, it just makes you have muscles under your fat. Do cardio to get rid of that stuff.

Doing crunches doesn't necessarily burn fat, but just having muscle (1lb) burns 50 calories a day. By adding muscle in the danger region (midsection) you are limiting the fat closest to the heart.

Down to 206. Still averaging about 200 minutes of cardio a week. I took last week off - weight training wise as it was time to let the muscles rest. I'm guessing I've put on about 2 pounds of muscle in the last 30-45 days.
Had a bad drunkytown on Sat- didn't eat much at least. The wife is out of town this week, so I can eat the diet I want to. Not that she eats crap- it's just crap that leaves me hungry due to her WW protion control stuff.
Had a seared tuna steak and salad for dinnah tonight - yummy.

Down to 206...

206??? I have bellybutton lint that weighs 206.

Love your innerself first. Only then will you be truly happy with your outward appearance.

That'll be $65 for the first hour.

My goal for the summer is to lose the weight I gained a college. I was 118 before I got here, and I am going back down. Before I got here, I had some serious muscle going. Now, my six pack isnt so much. I'm not going to change a lot about my diet, I'm just going to work out more.

According to "the experts" the chart says you should be 185. Fat ***.

but then, that chart also says I should be 220....which I will be, about 7 months after I die.

I actually started a diet Feb 27th, 31 lbs. so far....and i'm still not under 300....i'm huge. My goal is 275.

Man, you're kicking butt sooneron. That's excellent.

I too have sucked it up and started doing cardio to trim off the shadow of a spare tire I have. Six pack city, ETA 6/1/2006.

And guys, the BMI is BS. It hacks me off that it's still even in use because it's such BS.

For example, I'm 6'4". According to the BS BMI, my "healthy" weight would be 152 - 204. Have you ever seen a guy 6'4" weighing 152 lbs? Yeah, me too, and those pictures of Auschwitz still **** me off. But because I'm 230 w/ about 15% BFP, I'm "overweight?" OMGWTFBBQBULL****!

Yep, my BMI on the chart puts me at borderline obese.

Way to go sooneron, great work.

I went to our 'Wellness' day last year where they tested cholesterol, glucose and body-fat% and calculated BMI. After the woman tested my body-fat and found that it fell in the middle of the acceptable range, she said "oh, that's a great number - keep it right there". Then, she calculated my BMI and found that I was nearly 'obese' and she said "oh, that's too high - you should do some cardio to burn off some fat."

Well, took some time off and put a couple back on. It's tough when you have company in town on consecutive weekends! They want to go to the cool/fancy places in the city. I was back to 208.5, but after 10 days, I'm back down to 205.5.

Five more pounds and the ridiculous board shorts that I bought on a cruise a couple of years ago will fit well. Other shorts and slacks are already fitting better. That is the best feeling of all. If I can drop another 10 lbs, I can prolly fit into the "what the **** am I keeping these jeans for, anyway?" jeans.
I am sure that I am way high on the BMI thing. The deal is, I have a large frame for someone of my height- 5'10 (jacket size -44R). If I drop below 185, I'll be skinny looking (at least in the face). Plus, the free weights will keep that from happening.
I am headed to drun kytown tonight tho! :D

Keep up the good work, but 5' 10" with a 44R jacket isn't what I'd call "large frame." I'd call that average frame. I'm 5' 10" (5' 11" on a good day) and wear a 52R. That's more "large frame."

Of course I'm 100+ pounds more than my "ideal weight" of 152 lbs. Hell, I haven't weighed 152 since 7th grade.
