Chiefs, RB Griffin agree to terms

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to terms on a one-year contract with running back Quentin Griffin on Friday. Per team policy, terms were not disclosed.

The 5-foot-7, 195-pound Griffin spent the first two seasons of his NFL career with the Denver Broncos after being selected in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

Griffin played in 16 games (five starts) with the Broncos, rushing 179 times for 656 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 18 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs also re-signed tight end/long snapper Kendall Gammon to a one-year deal. A 14-year veteran, Gammon was selected to play in the 2004 Pro Bowl as the AFC’s long snapper.

Dave Megget! He definitely throws in a recieving mix- with the loss of Holmes.

I hope he gets off over there and has a solid career!

A broken leg didn't help him any.

In the NFL, it's "What have you done for us lately?" :(

Q never got much of a chance after he got hurt in Denver; i'm guessing the butterfingers was what cost him, ultimately, so i hope he is over it in KC.

I remember at one point he was over 500 touches w/o losing a fumble.

Yep, then it seemed like he couldn't keep from fumbling in a few NFL games. He'll be alright, I have faith that he's gonna get some good pt and remind people why he's playing pro ball. I'm curious to see how KC will be using him.

He's "insurance". He will back up Larry Johnson in the event Priest Holmes is unable to go or retires.

Yeah, but I wonder if they'll try using him on K.O. returns or something. Or maybe they'll rotate him in a little with L.J. And not just make him an injury type backup.

Q didn't have much speed, so I doubt he'll be used in KO returns. He'll get some screens, some passes, and maybe a couple runs. He's not going to get a lot of carries because he's playing behind one of the top 3 RBs in the NFL.

I had forgotten that the Chiefs tried Q out last fall, but felt it was an unfair learning curve to throw at him, so they went with Dee Brown....this is good, they've obviously had Q high on their list for some time.

He had like 2 fumbles in college. That was what was so surprising in Denver. After his third fumble a couple of years ago, he became much more tentative as a runner. His focus was on holding onto the ball.

It's nothing personal about Q with Denver mind you. They've already let their #1 back go (Mike Anderson) and are not opposed to trading Bell (their #2 back). They now have Dayne and presumably whomever they sign this offseason and draft.
