Full court pressure, high octane offense, I like his style!

Same dude I've been saying for weeks if in fact Kelvin has to or wants to step aside.!

Good call!

i don't really like the guy and think he's got a real chance to run somewhat dirty programs, but i do like that he picks people up full-court.

Big Red Ron
3/17/2006, 03:34 PM
He's pretty young. I don't think he's a cheeter. I guess, not as much of one as we all ready have.

memphis to ou seems too much of a lateral move to me...

He would jump to OU in a sec.

yer second point may be well-taken. Cal ain't that young. he was coaching UMASS 10-15 years ago and flopped in the NBA with the Nets before going to Memphis. this has got to be his 5th year or so at Memphis. there was scuttlebut his first couple years at Memphis with SUV's and such that had a lot of people looking the "other way".

oumartin
3/17/2006, 03:49 PM
SUV's, phone calls.

Calipari even cheats better!

King Crimson
3/17/2006, 03:53 PM
lol. he's losing to ORU right now, though.

oumartin
3/17/2006, 03:54 PM
good, maybe they'll fire him! ;)

i read Mizzou's tigerboard.com a couple times a week and they seem to think he's a decent shot to get an offer in Columbia. though Doug Gottleib didn't seem to think Cal had much interest in Mizzou.

Calipari aint' the answer. When Kelvin leaves, it will be a no-namer with a nice pedigree like Gillespie at A$M (think Stoops only in B-Ball).

That pretty much means Calipari has already accepted the job for the Tigers.

I want an East Coastish HC.

Heck what about Davis at Indiana?

if was 29 (!) when named coach at UMASS and graduated college in 82, that's probably about right.

oumartin
3/17/2006, 04:13 PM
not young but plenty of time to coach 20-25 more years.
proved he can coach college ball. two teams he has made winners.

What about Scott Sutton? That'd be pretty funny, since I think Scott is the one with the talent.

probably a bunch of good choices and maybe the right choice is Kelvin. He just needs some help IMO.

I'd be surprised if it's anything serious enough to run Kelvin off, but we'll see.

another popular choice for Mizzou fans.

i think he'd bring something to the conference like Tubbs did. made everyone play more up tempo. teh Big XII has turned into a slow, grinding half-court semi-thugball league.

thats what I heard some time back too. that we are definately making it to be less serious than what it is.

Any level of probation can give the players a free transfer- it is like happy hunting for other coaches looking for filling holes... am I wrong about that?

Or is it just a post season ban that would allow you to transfer with out loosing eligibility- do we stand a chance to get hit with that?

Calipari is 47, which is younger than Sampson.

Here's my dark horse that would be an "economic" hire--Terry Evans. He has done a decent job at UCO and he could combine Billyball and Kelvinball.

Maybe we could hire the coach at Norman High--worked out pretty well for the women's program

So does anyone think we are getting a postseason ban...from what I hear and read, it doesnt look good for us I dont think, and kelvin is pretty ****ed that the university didnt step to the plate for him more than they did, we could be in trouble

MojoRisen

I guess the question is did he know he was breaking the rules - according to most he should hit the bench on that one.

Collier11
3/18/2006, 12:55 AM
HOw could he not know?? He made something like several hundred excessive phone calls to recruits...I dont think he can plead ignorance on that one, do you?

MojoRisen
3/18/2006, 01:04 AM
Now way- he broke the rules and I think it is dangerous to have him defend himself in front of the NCAA- they are so square & when he says well I didn't think I was doing wrong - and hell if you guys would ev warned me- I run a clean program for so many years- and whoops I have a top5 recruiting class-

dude we are in a world of hurt- that is why they had those rules - you know.

I like Jeff CapelLook deep into old posts in this Sooner Basketball forum, and you'll find an Erin Higgins thread, complete with several off-0court photos. No swimsuits, however. This was back in March, I think.
