The bball board hasn't entirely blown up yet? I'm surprised. A couple of hours ago it was a mountain of sadness and negativity, then turned into a smouldering pile of sarcasm.

You know, on days like this, as a Longhorn fan, the natural instinct is to deride your rival for their inexplicable defeat...

But, when you read some of the self-destruction going on in some of those threads.. well..

It would be like standing on a hillside while the battle goes on below you, and after the battle is over, going down and chopping the noses off the corpses.

There is simply no joy in it. :(

One thing about billy ball, it was fun to watch even if we sometimes had bad years. I think thats the difference nowadays. Even if we are good, its hard to watch at times.

There was nothing fun to watch about Billy's last couple of years. What I remember is everyone bitching that we couldn't win tournament games with a style like his because teams would just slow down the tempo and beat us.

His last couple of years were bad, but he was already on the way out. So when he was going to the tourny you didn't find those teams entertaining?

Yes, it was entertaining when you won.....I didn't say it wasn't. I said everyone bitched about that entertaining system because towards the end we kept getting beat early in the tournament and the style of play was always the culprit.

That's what I remember at least.

I can live with the team losing as long as i'm not totally bored while doing it. Tubbs teams were fun to watch most of the time win or lose.

Sampsons teams are boring to watch and predictable.

I remember the time I was listening to the radio and we were trying to score 100 points in one half. We were at 97 and we kept jacking up 3 pointers in the last minute or so to get it. Now I don't bother listening to OU basketball on the radio.

Tubbs and Sampson seem to be polar opposites in regards to basketball philosophy. I think we can probably find a happy medium between them. Maybe then we can get a happy ending.

Or .. is he destined to be the next coach at Indiana?.. Or.. if Alford goes there... is Gillespie gone to Ioway?

In any event, Gillespie is gonna leave aggy faster than a groom at a shotgun wedding who just found out his bride to be isn't pregnant after all.
