The Jimmie Austin Golf Course at the University of Oklahoma in Norman has been chosen to host the 2009 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship (July 13-18). Designed by Perry Maxwell, the Jimmie Austin Golf Course opened in 1951, with Bob Cupp completing a renovation in 1996. Adjacent to the course is the Charlie Coe Golf CEnter, which is named after the two-time U.S. Amateur champion and six-time Walker Cupper and features a huge practice area.

Although this will be the first USGA competition at the course, the site has hosted the 1997 NCAA regionals, the 1997 Oklahoma Amateur, and the 1998 Big 12 Conference Women's Championship

Just a heads up and a congrats to the University for catching the eye of the USGA.

I need to go play that course. My friends think it's too expensive. After living in Phoenix, no course here is too expensive.

Play from the 'Boomer' tees to get the full experience.

I never do, but that's what I'm told.

If those are the champ tees, it ain't happening. I'm not nearly good enough.

I wonder if they will let me rent a cart to play that course. There was a time when I was not allowed to.

You get drunk and drive ONE LITTLE cart into a creek that is about 3 feet deep and they get all ****y.

If you want to play golf free, get a job there. I played almost every day.

Did this happen on the 12th hole by any chance?

I'll take that course against any sucker course in the country.

From the Boomer tees, maybe:texan:

Actually, I'm really glad that JA got a decent tourney. It is a nice trak that requires some decent shot making no matter what your level is.
