For some reason, I put my state as Oklahoma and my zip as my Houston zip and it said that it's on the local CBS affiliate. Retrying with a LA zip and state. Sigh.

Not sure if this team is worth all this trouble.

3/16/2006, 02:05 PM
More guards being beat of the dribble....more fouls to keep them from getting a lay up. If we want to get back in the game, it's got to start on the defensive end and giving up backdoor cuts for layups or sending them to the line isn't going to do us a hell of a lot of good

I know that's obvious, but damn it....why can't our guards stick with their man if they realize this

CtheB
3/16/2006, 02:05 PM
I figured this team stopped playing for Sampson during the Texas blowout, but if they can't find it within themselves to play for each other, then let the season end.

MojoRisen

Those guys are just good basketball players - leave em open they should hit the shots- man it is not like they don't shoot every day for hte last 15 years.

We need BBALL players too- hit open shots- we used to make our entire team hit an open 3 in less than 45 seconds- in a line- if we missed- we ran...

My patience with Terrell leaving his feet without knowing what he wants to do has grown thin.

My patience with Terrell taking really bad shots early in the shot-clock has grown thin.

My patience with Taj and Terrell committing entirely too many mental mistakes has grown thin.

Exactly.
Look at 2 things ...
Turnovers and Free Throws.
Almost like they are not important coming down the stretch of these last games. Maybe they are tired from their stingy defense. But, the D is lacking today, and just makes it worse.

I don't claim to know what is going on with the team, but it seems they were primed for top 10 status this year. Good twins down low, with a decent backup in Longar, Everet making things happen and throw in the mix Godbold. But things got worse not better down the stretch. I think its less the players in that kind of situation, more the coach.

I don't know of a coach better than Sampson that OU can get. However, it would be nice if Sampson or his replacement would pretend that they were on our side every once in a while. KS never gets after the refs (which endures him to the fans), doesn't incite rivalries like OSU or Texas (which endures him to the fans) or play the us-against-the-world card (which endures him to the fans). In fact, most fans are stilled ****ed from him bitching us out for yelling "Texas Sucks" 10 years ago.

Running offensive sets = passing to Courtney Paris and standing around to either watch her score, or standing around waiting for the pass to come out of the quadruple team for an open 3. It isn't the offensive set, it's the recruiting of a perfect match of players. The men's team doesn't have that natural offensive chemistry.

Sure you haven't had any athletes ruled ineligible in the last 24 hours, jagoff?

It's not always about the cash. Some of these guys like being at smaller programs where they are the big men on campus.
I would venture to guess that the AD would be willing to shell out about 600K with incentives to a new guy with a proven track record. Less to someone that hasn't had any big exposure.

Not to mention the fact that he continually puts our team down while he promotes our opponent. It may be tough love, but it also cost us an ingredient that could have made our season more successful.

When people complain about the LNC not filling up, I always point to KS. His teams win (albeit ugly) and OU has great fans. However, KS just does not get the fans excited because he does not seem care about creating excitement or enduring the fans to him. All he wants to do is coach and win games (which he is very good at IMO). That is fine when you are winning important games (see Bob Stoops), but it is does not work when you underachieve every March (with two exceptions).

Think about it, KS has won more Big 12 games than any other coach, been to a Final 4, won the regular season championship, won the conference tournament 3 years in a row, yet is in afterthought of Big 12 coaches. He just does not create excitement. In fact, he stomps all over excitement by letting the fans scream at the refs while he folds his arms and acts like our players deserve bad calls for being stupid. Tough love should be in the practice gym, not in the games.

They have possibly more upside in every program compared to OU just based on the state they're in. Of course their basketball program was pretty crappy for the first 100 years of its existence though.

Barnes has them humming right now, but that doesn't mean they can maintain it at a pretty consistently high level like OU's has for 25 years now.
