I am trying to uninstall my printer because the software is corrupt and won't let me print. I have used Hp's email tech support to no avail.

I go to prgrams<HP<printer< and this is what I see:
http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/1042/unisitall43bb.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I click Unistaller and get this:
http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/9098/unisitall16at.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I click yes, then get:
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/1151/unisitall20du.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Click OK, then get this:
http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/4508/unisitall35zf.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I have no idea what to do. I have tried a few unistaller progarms but they just launch the HP uninstaller. I just want to remove it so I can uninstall it. I have the software disc.

The printer is off and totally disconnected from the computer.

TIA

perhaps you should connect the printer to the computer and then try.

Tried that first and last. It was on the first time I tried it so I turned it off and tried. Same thing. uplugged it, same thing. Restarted with it unplugged and plugged, same thing. Disabled anything with HP in it in the start up tab of MSconfig, same thing.

Have you tried removing it through Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel?

That'd be my suggestion too.

just delete the files from the c: drive directly and work to find all the additional drivers in the win folder.

i'm sure that won't cause any problems.

Yeah, didn't work.

That's what I would do if I was getting a new printer (which I might have to do), but I need to reinstall this software and I don't know if I would if I do that. But, it's not like it works now anyways.

Hp has offered to sell me this printer (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/product_detail.do?category=all_in_ones&subcat1=color&catLevel=3&storeName=storefronts&product_code=Q5801A%23ABA&landing=printers&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN)for $150 (includes shipping). Wonder if it's a good idea.

It sounds to me like there's a problem initializing the device manager.

Yeah, if there isn't a problem everything should go smoothly.

Have you thought of manually re-uninitializing the device manager in order to initialize it?

He'll have to bit-purge the registry to do that.

Yeah, a little bit.

Yeah, a little bit.

But if he doesn't do it right it will denormalize the entire hardware abstraction layer.

The third-stage bleed air valve should provide enough cooling to keep the stasis field from desaturating.

Sure, in a perfect world, but we ALL know what happens once the inevitable dust particles and imperfections are introduced into the environment.

Godspeed colleyvillesooner. It has been an honor knowing you.

You're the one who said he should manually re-uninitialize the device manager in first place. Did really think he has access to a level-4 clean room!?

This is why you should never solicit technical advice on the SO.
