Anyone familiar with the Springfield XD 45ACP? I want one.

Need to know if it is a good carry gun and can handle some abuse (dirt, rain, outdoor stuff...)

Anyone have any experience with these?

They is kind of big for my tastes.
Also, I think they have a loooong trigger pull.

Could you kill somebody "on the spot" with one of those things?

Does anyone have any opinions on the Walther P99? The saxet show is this weekend and I might be in the market.

I can tell you my Colt 1911 stainless .45 rawks. It's handled everything I've
put it through.

NO! You can NOT! Only semi-auto rifles with detachable magazines, pistol grips, folding stocks, flash hiders, and bayonet lugs can kill on the spot. Moreover, a rifle only needs 3 of these 5 features to "kill on the spot." The more features, the more it can "kill on the spot." A rifle with 5/5 of these features is the best at killing "on the spot."

Hope this helps.

Most of the 1911 clones are good buys. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the .45ACP is the single best pistol cartridge for stopping power ever devised by man. Find a pistola that will feed Federal Hydra-shocks reliably and you can knock down Frankenstein on PCP.

John Moses Browning be praised.

Bingo!

The Hydra-Shock is, by far, the best round for knowdown power.
The .45 version is widely preferred by local law enforcement.

I've got one in the pipe and seven in the clip. :D

I've got the 1911 covered with my Colt 1911

Thought I'd try something different that I could take it out and not worry about beating up - and I like the 13+1 capacity.

Anyways - bought the XD 45ACP tonight down at Fred Baker's. Dang thing just feels like an extension of my hand. Check one out if you haven't! :D

I'm sorry, I read right past the XD part in your post the first time. By all accounts, the "American Glock" is a ery good pistol, and at around 500.00 is very affordable.
