My daughter is sick, unfortunately, yet again. She's been plagued with
ear/sinus/upper respiratorial trouble since Katrina roared through.

Slickwife thought slickbaby was possessed this morning (2AM), and I
had to agree, she was violently crying and out of control.

Needless to say, we'll be at the doctor at 10:30

If this keeps up, we're gonna have to move. I'm not subjecting the greatest
little girl in the whole wide world to this any more!

I hope its nothing. Maybe just an ear infection or something. My kid had those about once every six months the first 5 years of life and they succs and we did not live in Mold Central -- during the period we lived in NE Arkansas and Wichita, neither of which were then known to be particularly unhealthy places.

My suggestion is to see an Ears, Nose and Throat specialist if you have not. Many times putting shunts in the ear drums solves the problem completely.

Actually, we did the ear tubes in December.

We had to go through four ear infections before insurance would
cover the tubes, since then, she's had one more ear infection, bronchitis,
pneumonia, and a generally very runny nose, especially at night.

What sucks is that the ENT says "unless it's a specific ear problem, stay
with the peditrician"

I think this is an ENT issue, but there aren't many left here post Katrina.

That sucks. I know those things can be very painful. Thankfully our kids have only had a couple here and there. Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks - I hope so too! Nothing makes you feel worse than a sick baby!

I had tubes put in and my adnoids taken out when I was 5. Up until then, CONSTANT ear infections. After that things went ok.

My boss's 9 month old baby had to have tubes put in last week. :( so far she's doing good though.

Sure hope yours gets better soon!

I wish I knew what to say. I had constant problems like this as well. Ear tubes solved it for awhile. Later it was having my tonsils out. Finally I had to have sinus surgery to open up my passageways a bit. Now the problem is solved. I know what you are saying about the ENTs. I lived in New Orleans for a number of years as well. I'm glad I'm not there now.

Three hours later.....

No strep throat, no flu, it's pure allergies running rampant.

So we'll do Nasonex and Zyrtec.

I hate waiting in doctor offices.

That's good news! Its treatable. Just a thought, but I wonder if there is anyway you can make her bedroom a little less spore and pollen laden? Air filtration system and a fan set up to blow the filtered air over the crib and help keep away the allergens? Might be worth a try to give her some relief since babies spend so much time asleep in their rooms.

We've kept her room pretty plain for those reasons. She's got a few stuffed
animals in there, and they are dust/spore/allergen magnets, maybe they
need to go on a vaction for a couple of weeks.

I think it would be wise to change the bedding more often than seems necessary as well. Dry clean the quilted stuff too. Also, if there's carpet in her room, you might consider ripping that out and going with some sort of washable flooring. As I'm sure you know, even carpet kept meticulously clean harbors allergens just like the teddy bears.
