I guess Rushmore. They filmed a lot of it on the St John's campus in Houston which was really close to my old 'hood.

Although I'm not from Tulsa, I always liked Rumble Fish. It was on the other day and I still like it. Mickey Roarke is friggin weird.

Was it the part where they were staying in the hotel and gambling?

I know at one point they are out on a highway using a payphone or something and a Colvert Dairy sign is hanging from a storefront. It was filmed in western OK but not too far West of OKC. Damnit, I can't remember what parts or which town in OK right now.

i'd have to have seen it for it to be my favorite :P

i always liked the part in Tex where Matt Dillon was trying to describe where he was and all he could say was that he was by "the hotel that looked like a castle"

i've seen Night of the Lepus several times. the scene where they announce that the town is under attack from "a giant herd of killer rabbits" at the drive-in is sublime. it's also the movie playing on the TV in the Matrix when Neo visits the oracle the first time.

i rented the outsiders about 6 months ago and it's awful. Tulsa Rogers high school is in it though. I re-read RUmble Fish though about the same time and it's pretty interesting some of the stuff you don't catch as a kid.

You should rent it. I mean, ****, it has Hopper, Roarke, and T Waits in it. All it was missing was Walken.:mack:
Good DP work by Burum in b/w and the score by S Copeland is really friggin good! I need to find it on cd.

A small fictional Nebraska town called Gatlin. Western Iowa and Eastern Nebraska are pretty interchangleable.

Ghosts of Mississippi

They were everywhere except my former front yard.

Director Rob Reiner, reportedly, was continuously hounded as "Meathead" by passersby in downtown Jackson.

The deputy who escorted Byron de la Beckwith out of the courtroom after the trial and hauled him off to jail, is a personal boyhood friend of mine. In real life, not the movie.

When Beckwith killed Evers, me and the deputy were throwing footballs around our neighborhood.

the church where the new agey church where the daughter and mullet guy get married in About Schmidt would be visible if you were standing on my roof. it's not a new agey chruch, but just has goofy architecture. it looks like a helmet Cortez would have been wearing while conquering South America or Montezuma--whichever.

SChmidt also has Argonaut Liquers on Colfax in Denver--which is pretty scummy. it's on the east end of Capital Hill/Cheeseman Park where i'm looking to move back to.

Night of the Lepus is a classic and was the best of the '70s disaster flicks. And by best I mean the most ridiculously retardedly funny way possible. :)

They shot most of the late 60's gangster flick "Dillinger" in and around Ardmore. If you look close, the scene where Melvin Purvis is getting a shoe shine (shot in the Carter County courthouse) features an ad for beautiful Lake Murray and Colvert's Milk.

It was a really big deal. People got all goofy and starstruck.

I think they were supposed to be in the Wichita airport in "Planes, Trains, & Automobiles", though they didn't actually film it in our airport (they built a replica)

"My Day in the Barrel" was filmed here.

apparently part of "The Big Kahuna" was filmed there.
