NORMAN — The Oklahoma women’s basketball team will be a part of the Selection Monday Show on ESPN tonight at 6 p.m. CST. ESPN will air a live ‘reaction’ shot of the Sooners as they learn their seeding in the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Additionally, OU head coach Sherri Coale and Wooden Award Candidate Courtney Paris will be interviewed during the hour-long telecast.
The OU players and staff will watch the show from Coale’s residence in Norman. It marks the second time that ESPN has been on hand to collect OU’s reaction to its NCAA Tournament placement.
In studio for the Selection Monday show will be Trey Wingo, Kara Lawson and OU legend Stacey Dales-Schuman.
The 2006 NCAA Tournament begins Saturday March 18. First & Second Round sites that will play on Saturday, March 18 and Monday, March 20 are Chicago, Denver, Knoxville, Tenn., and Tucson, Ariz. The opening round sites that will play on Sunday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 21 are Norfolk, Va., Trenton, N.J., University Park, Pa., and West Lafayette, Ind.
Additionally, Coach Coale will be featured in ESPN’s commercials for the NCAA Tournament, which will begin airing this evening. The sports network was given locker room access for pre and post-game speeches by the OU head coach, in addition to Coale wearing a wireless mic for the Feb. 12 game against Baylor. The audio and video will be interlaced with other elite coaches to create one ‘motivational speech.’
