This was absolutely pathetic! It seemed as if nobody cared, except for Book. They has Neal, your best 3-point shooter, commit the foul when he had 4 fouls. When the best offensive weapon tonight was AJ FROM 3, that's pathetic. This lost to a sub-.500 team that collapsed down the stretch after their best player was booted off the team! OU has been a true disappointment this year, not Wake Forest-like disappointment, but a disappointment nonetheless. Some people would say that the problem is with the style of play. Some say it's the lack of a true PG. With the way they don't communicate on defense, the high number of turnovers, and the lack of getting to the line, I say it's either a team-chemistry problem or they just don't care anymore.

We got dominated inside because Taj was a shell of his former self. Then the refs put everyone in foul trouble and there goes our confidence on O.

We are the only team in the country that has less foul shots than the opponent AT HOME. The reason why we never go to the line is that we do not attack the goal, where most of our offense happens from the FT line towards HC. The reason everyone else goes to the line is that we beat the crap out of each other in practice so bad we don't know any different come game time.

Once again, I feel incredibly stupid for posting early on about this team, but I needed something to do to pass the time in Iraq. This team had sooo much potential and hope, but they have NEVER gelled. That comes down to leadership. If I was a kid who had dreams of the NBA, OU would be towards the bottom of the list. There have been some guys here who, I believe, would've been an NBA player if they played somewhere else. It's the style of play...Next year, this team will be like OSU this year. This is how next year stacks:

1. KU
2. UT
3. OSU (they get it to gel)
4. A&M
5. ISU (they return their key players)
6. KSU (even with a new coach, they return their entire starting line-up)
7. OU
8. Baylor
9. NU
10. TTECH
11. CU
12. Mizzou

This will be a second-tier team next year. These freshmen coming in next year are REAL good offensive players, but the offensive clamps will be put on them. How much of these transfers leaving has been the kids, and how much of it has been the system?

OKC-SLC

And i got news for ya folks...... its only gonna get WORSE!!!!!!!!!! Next years team will be even more AWFUL because of all the new faces and the year after that won't be much better either!

I think inside next years team isn't near as good. Now we do return a lot of guards. But I don't know what to expect at all from next year. Too many young guys to predict.

There wasn't much to be disappointed about till this game really. Maybe the Missouri loss but that game the fans didn't show up. The defense is really dissappointing at times this year. 46 points in that 2nd half. That's really bad.

IronHorseSooner

This team "was supposed" to have guards who could penetrate a defense and attack the rim. WHERE HAS THIS BEEN? Our offense has been a choice of one of the three:

1. Turnover
2. Dribble down to under five seconds on the shot clock and jack up a three (usually from a guy who doesn't shoot the 3 very well).
3. Dump it down low

Unfortunately, 1 and 2 have happened FAR more often than anybody would like to have admitted. This form of offense has been around for a while. This program has been LUCKY over the years to have been graced by some guys who could bail this team out when they needed to (Minor, Erdmann, Brewer, Najera, Johnson, McGhee, Price, Lavender). Them bailing out WAS the offense. It's what is called the "HOPE AND A PRAYER" offense, and as we say in my profession "HOPE IS NOT A METHOD."

"I never have to worry about Ernie's (Abercormbie) axe-handles."

"I didn't see any toughness out there."

In the past, I would say that KS's teams have overachieved. He has a coaching style is comparable to basic training. It's rudimentary and toughens guys up for battle; however, it is not specialized enough to get to the next level. That's why trainees need more training. KS's would be a great Drill Sergeant, but not a tactics instructor. He understands the rudimentary ways to harden his players, but doesn't have the knowledge or specialization to get them any further. :kelvin:

why would a talented HS kid want to come to Oklahoma and play where he can get the crap beat out of him every day in practice for the potential reward of scoring 5 points a game?

CtheB, GAME, SET, MATCH for you!

So, are you saying we need to lure "The General" away from Tech?

Not necessarily, even though his wife is an OU alum;) Just saying that it looks like that KS has only a basic/standard set of plays, and he won't deviate. Other coaches, regardless of skill level and who have been around the game all of their lives, seem to figure out this offense really easily. Shut down the main scorer (in this case Neal) and the offense goes into hibernation. Every team has role players (the scorers, the defenders, the rebounders, the leaders, etc.); however, most seemed to be multi-faceted enough that they could do more. The KS teams seem to have one main scorer, who passes the torch onto the next main scorer in the following season. In my other posts, I have described some of them. I agree that players such as Carter need more touches, he could be a GREAT weapon, but he is not utilized to his God-given abilities.

I have given up on seeing a player attack the rim on any semblance of a regular basis with KS as coach. That's just not his style (scoring points, going to FT line, stuff like that). McGhee did it during our run to Final Four. And all it did was GET US TO THE FINAL FOUR.

This team lacks two things:
1) a player to step up when the game is on the line (don't give me Terrell. He couldn't sniff the jock of a player who actually does--like Hollis)

2) an inside player with the ability to score with his back to the basket. you give Taj the ball 6 feet out with his back to the basket and you can kiss the possession goodbye. We've had only one of these under KS, and only for half a season (McGhee).

Why in the HELL was Nebraska sooo happy in beating our over-rated asses? Storming the court in Lincoln????? And the way they were acting after this game?
Are you familiar with Nebraska basketball history? Anytime NU actually wins a game in a tournament it's a big deal to us, or beat a team with a number by it's name. Remember this is a program whose next NCAA tourny will be it's first. The bar is set pretty ******* low in Lincoln for the basketball team, especially now that were decent at baseball.

Seriously, have you evar played organized basketball in your life? Based on some of your rhetoric, I'm gonna have to go out on that limb and say you haven't.
